Matrix 4 will be a better movie/experience than Blade Runner 2049

The first Matrix was good when I was younger. I thought the second one was terrible right away (rave/sex scene anyone?) and never watched the third, I have no hope for this one. Also, the last movie she directed was Jupiter Ascending.

What if she got her shit together (her shit was not together while filming the sequels iirc) and also everyone finally understood why those movies were what they were and how best to avoid that again? I'm just being optimistic here

This is pretty much my experience except I don't know what a Jupiter Ascending is.

I own Scary Movie 4 and I have no idea where it came from. Shaq is in it.

I'm always rooting for the Wachowskis and like that they rep Chicago so much, but with their track record since the Matrix movies, it just seems like they lost their ability to distinguish between good and bad ideas or set limits. Jupiter Rising was the most obvious example, but even Sense8, which has great characters and is visually arresting, is kind of a mess, way too many ideas, second season buckles under the weight of the plot, etc.
I've always heard Speed Racer is underrated. I should actually watch that someday.

I still have not watched the new trailer, I just want to go see the movie. The next few months will be a test to see if that is even possible.

Old Keanu kinda struck a nerve with me. He looked old as fuck in the last Bill & ted movie. But did not hit me as the way the dude looks in M4.

I just watched the first Matrix for the first time in probably 15 years with my 11 year old. It was much better than I remembered and my son loved it - something he typically doesn't when I force him to watch older movies with me.
I'm looking forward to M4 even though I don't have much inclination to revisit M2 or M3.

Sweet
I saw The Matrix a couple of years ago at the cinema, representing the first time I've been to see a film at the cinema twice with a 20 year gap.
I loved Blade Runner 2049 and the 2nd and 3rd Matrix films made me angry with how crap they were.
Voted 'No' but open minded to this film not being terrible.

I really should have gotten high before watching this, honestly I would not have missed out on anything here and none of it would have been much more meaningfully confusing than it already was.
This was fun (at least the first hour or so was) and yet I had no problems stepping out for like 7 minutes halfway through because I realized I hadn't eaten hardly anything that day and was not going to be able to comfortably sit through the rest of it if I didn't stuff my face with savory but disgusting overpriced chicken tenders from the concessions stand.
Action scenes in this were the weakest part of this, just a huge step down from the beautiful choreography and cinematography of the original movie (or hell, the entire original trilogy) and now it just feels like cheaply filmed fight scenes from the Jason Borne movies, so much hyperactive editing and no feeling in these scenes at all. Some of the new characters are "fun" but then you go back and watch literally any scene that Laurence Fishburne was in back in the 1999 film and it suddenly feels like a revelation, and I say that as a huge fan of the original film.
My Blade Runner 2049 experience was a lot more memorable than this.

The first hour or so was really great -- young Morpheus/old Neo was a nice inversion, and there was room for them to go in a cool "World on a Wire" direction with it. After that, it gets terribly bloated and progressively less interesting. Nice return to form after Revolutions, but nothing I would have missed much if I had skipped it.

Man, savory but disgusting overpriced chicken tenders is like my second favorite food after savory but disgusting cheap chicken tenders.
