The new Tegan & Sara record is pretty good! Sara co-wrote a tune for CRJ's Kiss, and this album is produced by Greg Kurstin (Kylie, Dragonette, Pink). So yeah, it sounds a bit like all that stuff.

Oliver's Mechanical EP caught my eye this week because one of my favorite artists Kilian Eng did the cover. Here's the initial illustration:

It's nothing groundbreaking or mindblowing, just a fun batch of John Carpenter '80s sci-fi film electro and obviously Daft Punk influenced bangers. http://www11.zippyshare.com/v/76258733/file.html

I heard the new Teagan & Sara on All Songs Considered last week and it annoyed the hell out of me

are you sure it's actually a good song and not just immaculately produced?

Yeah, this is the kind of cover art that should be rewarded with a listen.

new Tegan and Sara is great

everyone that voted for the CRJ album in 2012 polls should check it out. it's canadian, cheesy, hooks piled on to the sky. Super 80s.

I'm not sure if we're allowed to post stuff we're pretty much positive Yancy would like in this thread but I'm gonna give it a shot.

There's a difference? Seriously though, I am not sure. This kind of thing always sounds amazing to me at first, and if I'm still listening in a month the songs are probably good. We'll see.

Since this is the Yancy's Secret Jukebox thread I'm going to assume Ned Braden is referring to the Dannii Minogue song and not the Badfinger album.

The song is on a soundtrack album called Magic Christian Music.

    The original recording isn't, though!

That album still destroys. Would put "I Will Be There" on a list of the Greatest Songs of All Time.

Sweet Dreams My LA Ex rules it. Don't really remember the rest of the album.

And yeah, I was talking about Rachel.

I think the most accurate way to describe that film would indeed be "something that happened to Rachel Stevens" yeah.
