I saw her on Bond Street last summer. Still eminently fuckable.

im listening to my first tegan and sara album ever

figured they were were two dykes with acoustic guitars, had no idea they were yancy music or is that a recent transformation.

Pretty sure it's a recent transformation. Didn't pay much attention to their old stuff, but I recall it being more Indigo Girls than Dragonette.

That's exactly what I thought Tegan and Sara were too. Still haven't heard them. Maybe the cultural role of "two dykes with acoustic guitars" has been replaced by two dykes on some electronic garage band dance shit (what I now assume they are) in the post everything internet age.

Or maybe they just got fed up when all the kids thought tyler the creator was cooler than they were, and now they're trying to prove everybody wrong by being good.

Nah, they've never been Indigo Girls, but while I haven't heard the new track yet I'm sure the Jepsen connection has them playing up the pop aspect of what they do.

Good song no one else cared about:

t&s probably got an awful lot of slack musically cuz they had a big fanbase of teenage kids deciding they were possibly lgbt and identifying w/ them. while their songs used to be almost entirely chorus or 3 lines of lyrics repeated, they grown considerably as songwriters. this is certainly the poppiest they've ever gone. i'm not real familiar w/ the very early stuff.

Kilian Eng tipped me off to another new artist, Boerd. Kilian did the cover art for Boerd's new LP Cerebrum, and Boerd soundtracked the promo clip for Kilian's upcoming art book OBJECT 10. Below are both of those things! Swedes do it better.

Here's the debut LP from Strange Talk - they're a Melbourne band in the Van She / Cut Copy vein.

Nothing too revolutionary here, but this shit jams

The new Sally Shapiro is really good, to no one's surprise. Stream it here and order the limited 180 gram white vinyl here.
