Does it seem like they're trying harder now than they were for the last ten years? Or is that just something I want to believe?

It's not uncommon for great shows to have a few mediocre or bad seasons as they get older, but I can't even really comprehend that the Simpsons has now been mediocre or bad for half again longer than it was great.

I was thinking about New Order yesterday and arrived at this same conclusion.

I still see almost every episode. It's only mediocre judged against it's own history. Most tv shows are completely fucking atrocious. The Simpsons is reliably okay, and occasionally pretty good.

That's good to know. I'll certainly defer to someone who actively watches it. It was reliably awful in the early 2000s when I quit it, and I've never had the time or inclination to come back.

Well earned down time being spent right now watching the pool episode, Bart of Darkness."

"Look question lady, this job is not really what I do, I play keyboards."

I missed this line back in the day cause it came almost directly after "let's celebrate this occasion with the adding of chocolate to milk."
God, they were just so on for so long. For my money, pop culture never has and never will get this good again.
