Parts of that song are really doing it for me, but the gratuitous in-the-red distortion is most certainly not doing it. Unless the stream I heard was fucked or something.

We're probably going to talk about the new Phoenix record enough to warrant its own thread. Good call.

it's a youtube video using a rip from radio, i think it'll sound clearer once we get a nice little 320 kbps mp3

i approve of this song (fuck the h8rs), and like virtually all normal and rational people i approve of this band

Are you sure it's a radio rip? I know Phoenix debuted the song on radio, but that's their youtube channel, and the video was posted nearly simultaneously with the radio play. No need (or time) to rip & re-encode their own track.

I agree that a higher bit rate MP3 should sound better in the noisy parts, though.

Ah, you may be right. For some reason I saw the "homemade lyric video" in parentheses and thought that it was a fan that had put that clip together.

this is why i was surprised you liked that new Teagan and Sara so much

the song sounds much more nuanced and less blaring at 1080p and played loud, low end is pretty strong too

i will be really mad if they don't use the breakdown of this song tons of sports montages and promo trailers

half-thoughts i had listening to Phoenix's Bankrupt! one-and-a-half times today:

-it sounds like a Weezer album at times, particularly Raditude
-everyone is going to listen to this on shitty speakers and then complain about it (i'm convinced this is at least half of all instant criticism to music)
-they played with virtually every good idea/beat in dance/R&B/pop music over the course of one album and it works in so many ways
-no matter what their past work suggests, every band/singer/rapper wants to use as many ridiculous voice effects and manipulations as possible
-i am beyond thrilled they did another "Love Like a Sunset" type suite in "Bankrupt!" instead of trying to switch it up just to be different
-this album is full of many very good ideas and the cliched phrase "tour de force" comes to mind

Yeah, I really want to hear this in the car for the first time. My PC speakers are well above average, but my short attention span would more than counteract the sound quality.

can't decide what my favourite bit of the album is yet, might be that big "FOLLOW ME!" explosion in the real thing or the wayfarer groove in "trying to be cool"

bourgeois sounds so much like the best coldplay song ever made
