    https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/mar/09/luis-suarez-dive-barcelona-cheating-psg

this is a dumb article about nothing that doesn't have a point.

500 words dedicated to "diving is bad, so this victory isn't that special". the false equivalency between diving and "cheating" via illegally moving the ball on a golf course is ludicrous.

millions and millions of dollars on the line. all the media and fans talk about is "WIN WIN WIN". and then you rip winning through mischievousness. it's such an ideological and stupidly moralistic crusade that you will never win.

Felt like Real Madrid had the most handsome starting eleven in Europe this weekend. Bunch of expensive haircuts, perfect facial hair and serious gel.

while we're on the subject of handsome footballers, i've been very taken with Fernando Llorente at Swansea this year. it's that hair and those light eyes. for a 32 year old he is still going strong in the handsome department.

    Probably Man City unfortunately, right?

They have at least have the semblance of stability and their weaknesses seem easier to resolve and they have the resources to do that in the summer. I don't understand the narrative about Pep's tactical stubbornness. Seems to me like the guys resume should allow for some of that. I don't know.

What are the odds of Mbappé playing for Arsenal next year? Less than 5%? He is so much fun to watch.

I'd take City maybe because of Sane and Aguero alone. I don't think either squad right now has the defense to compete in the CL or even for the title but I prefer the City attacking players and pieces of their midfield.

I ask the question because City finished above Arsenal by 4 points in 2015 and Arsenal finished 5 points above City last year. Both went out in the Champions League round of 16 in both years. The common wisdom seems to be that City have a "world class squad" because they won the league twice a few years ago, but I don't think that's really accurate. Pep hasn't had the expected impact because, realistically, the squad isn't great. Who do they have that can boss the center of the park? Their goalkeeping situation is strong but doesn't blow you away. They've spent over a hundred million pounds on defenders and haven't found success with them--plus the rest of their defenders are over the hill and on huge wages (Clichy, Sagna, Kolarov). Pep doesn't seem to like Aguero or Iheanacho for his style of play either. Sterling and Sane are young and still inconsistent.

WP, your point about City having the wherewithal to correct these issues is well taken, but that wasn't the question. I think, all else equal, Pep would rather have the Arsenal squad to work with going forward because it's younger, deeper, and more balanced, despite all the garbage in it. I agree Nick that Aguero and Sane are perhaps the pick of the lot between the two squads (though Aguero has not looked like himself for awhile now), but City is carrying a ton of dead weight too.

Brutal afternoon for me. At least I didn't wake up early for that. I taped the game and watched it without knowing the score and then watched Inter immediately after. Giovanni Hart gifted two goals but they still drew. I like Perisic a lot but he has to do a better job finishing.

Credit to Pulis and West Brom. Can one of you explain to me what the point of Aaron Ramsey is? I remember watching some Arsenal games probably three of our years ago when he was their most exciting player on the field and was making explosive runs. He had a great Euro 2016 too. Why is he so awful now? Injuries? The dude made absolutely no attempt to track on those corner kicks and twice Arsenal were beaten in the exact same manner. Ospina was really poor in giving up that second goal as well.

They were given so much space in midfield and they created nothing out of it. The combination of Xhaxa and Ramsey is atrocious. Welbeck would rotate back at times but he really didn't do shit either. Seems like their best option is to keep Sanchez in the middle and start Iwobi as the other winger.

The airplanes buzzing around during the game is obnoxious. The fans keep whining about the turbulent and chaotic atmosphere surrounding the club, but they are the ones fueling that. I hope Wenger leaves, takes the Barca job, and wins a Spanish treble before retiring.

When 60K people show up for the MLS All Star game it's pretty clear MLS has turned that into a money maker that isn't going away.

But damn does it remind me of how awful MLS is. Just a collection of garbage players.
