I spent the last 4 days in San Antonio. That place is more ghetto than I thought and their strip clubs certainly aren't anything to write home about.

Is it a Millenial thing to think going on vacation with your parents is normal? All these 20-somethings live on their own but let Mom & Dad flip the bill for a weeklong trip.

When I make fun of them they think I am crazy.

I'd go on vacation with my folks, but only a super cheap one. Like camping, hiking, and driving around going to minor league baseball games. Making them flip the bill for an expensive thing would just seem rude.

My brother's currently in New York City with my mother. I can't help but imagine how much she mst be holding him back from enjoying all the city has to offer.

I went to St. Petersburg with my father at the same age and it was fine because we couldn't communicate with any of the locals anyway and it at least gave me someone to talk to.

He wants to get a small boat in the Southampton docks when he reaches retirement age. That sounds like a better way to socialise with your parents.

Some free dinners and babysitters who'll pay for their own hotel room? Seems like a good idea to me.

Going on vacation with the grandparents of your children seems like a much better idea than going on vacation with your parents. Reverse bell curve for the average person.

I can't even spend more than a half hour with the parents. My idea of a vacation is being away from them, and i'm hoping the last I talked to them will be the last.

I just got back from a big road trip. I went from Chicago to NYC in one night and picked up my friend living in Long Island. Then all four of us drove to Quebec City and spent two days there. Then three in Montreal. And two more camping about 2 hours north of Ottawa before heading back home. A lot of driving and a lot of high-end beer drinking.

Visited and toured the Bell Centre. Went to a beer festival in Quebec City. Also found both On the Beach and Bowie's Low at a record store there.

Portland is a cool town. Ate at a restaurant called Duck Fat that was really good, and went on a tour of the Allagash brewery and caught a minor league baseball game. I also went north and went camping in Acadia National Park and caught the sunrise on top of Cadillac Mountain while I was there. I think the draw of going to Cadillac Mountain for the sunrise is that you will be the first person in the U.S. to see the sunrise.

I'm assuming you have an itinerary set but if you were looking for stuff to do those are some options.

On the Beach is a great piece of vinyl. The first pressing - have there been others? - features a good looking design on the interior surface of the cover, same as the textile of the umbrella on the cover. Not to mention it sounds incredible - about 2 feet thick and the texture of rib eye. Good pickup.

"Sound and Vision" sounds excellent on a good stereo. I used to love Low - I think I felt I had to when p4k called it the greatest album of the 70s or something - but I'm not entirely on board w/ the sequencing. I wish the Eno-ish bits were better incorporated into the album. And maybe they're a bit uninteresting too.

cadillac mountain sounds pretty cool. i don't know if we'll have time to hit that up on saturday or not. we drive up friday, stopping a place called larson's lunchbox for lobster rolls, driving over to Oxbow Brewing taproom for a beer or 2, then on to Rockland/Rockport. rehearsal dinner friday eve, wedding stuff saturday. i'm dj-ing reception. 30-40 of us are taking a ocean boat trip on sunday. back to chicago on monday. hopefully there's time in there to do some other exploring of maine.
