Damn that's awesome. When is your anniversary? Our 5th is coming up too (yeah! We somehow didn't get divorced!) and I'm heading down to surprise her on the weekend closest to the 25th of September which I think is a Monday.jesus jones wrote:for my wife and i's 5th wedding anniversary, we'll be holed up in a cabin near floyd, virginia for several days surrounded by hiking trails. i think there are some breweries or dumb tourist things around, but mostly i just wanna hang out in the woods.

Just came back from SF, quick Instagram chats with Jasper had. It was really good, I'm moving there in November.

Re: vacation plans
Spent the past couple days in Boulder. I really like it here.
Great food, some good hikes, legal weed & all the girls are hard bodies.
If it wasn't so expensive I'd consider moving here.

Im two weeks into a three week Indian work/pleasure jaunt. Mostly pleasure so far. The food and women are incredible but there is a lot of fucked-up shit.
In conclusion, India!

In Newport for the year, getting another degree on the government dime. Shit's been rocky between the mrs and I, and entering long distance into it just complicates things... but what else can I do but keep on chooglin?jesus jones wrote:october 6th. we'll be there the 6-8. really excited.Ned Braden wrote:Damn that's awesome. Trip of a life time but I'm so knackered. Got back last night. Back to work on Wednesday.

Looks like I'm gonna do Budapest and Sofia at some point this year. Don't have much to add to this since all I could tell you about either is how gorgeous the streets and buildings look on GIS, but yeah, stoked.

Budapest at night is the most beautiful city I've ever seen. It is a strange city that has kind of overwhelmed me both times I've visited.

I’m in Dallas today. My first Uber driver had a minivan that smelled like animals and he literally had straw stuck in his hair.
My second Uber driver is an elderly black man dressed like a ship captain. He’s playing jazz and randomly doing a “skiddly boo skiddly bop” thing while driving.

Re: vacation plans
i'm going to tuscon for a few days in february with my best friend from chicago. gonna hike around and go to two ((deep listening)) steve roach shows. i think it's around the same time as the famous rock and gem show, so i'll probably get some crystals.
what else should i do in tuscon? i've only been there once on tour.

asheville recs for nick:
hit up the Moog museum
the best Indian buffet lunch ever is at Mela Indian Restaurant
Rhubarb is a restaurant downtown that was fine. we overheard a guy at a table behind us say that he "could eat a bucket of those pork rillettes" and that was gross.
beer: wicked weed, wedge, burial, and drive out to the Sierra Nevada palatial estate if you have time

Re: vacation plans
downtown asheville is mostly just full of stumbling drunk floridians, but there are some gems still:
sushi at heiwa
veg/vegan food at rosetta's
coffee at izzy's
lazy diamond bar
mamacita's burritos
limones for high-end mexican food (lobster nachos are great)
static age records
west asheville is my preferred zone:
mothlight for shows
sunny point for brunch
desoto lounge bar
the double crown bar
harvest records
beer:
burial downtown
wedge in river arts district
archetype west asheville
drive out riverside towards madison county and hang out in marhsall
rattlesnake lodge is a great hike off the north parkway
it's great out there

Thanks for the suggestions my Solid Bros!
We leave for Asheville on the 23rd and are only there for a couple days. Then, spending 5 days in Charleston.

Hilarious. The only time in the last 5 years I've had my shoes shined was at DFW.

If I'm still here I'd be down to go get some brews at a divey spot and eat some dim sum or something.

Go to Stinson Beach: https://www.nps.gov/goga/stbe.htm
Or Point Reyes (and then go to Limantour Beach!): https://www.nps.gov/pore/index.htm
Neither of these are actually in SF

i've been for a few days like 4 years ago (again, on tour) and i checked out the sutro baths, ate a fried chicken sandwich at a beer bar, played at the independent and went back the next night for the show, stopped in big sur for a day on the way down to LA. all my other trips out there had me in oakland rather than sf proper.
wife and i will be in big sur for a night and then like 4 more days in sf. gonna hit the church of john coltrane, maybe that weird labyrinth at the pier.

Well I'm confirmed to be here, you can let me know what level of grimy you wanna get into. Best call might just be burritos and beers in Mission
