Drinking shots.

No fully grown adult should ever do this. You completely abandon the pretence of 'savouring the taste' and 'drinking to be social' as soon as you gulp a 35% liquor down in half a second.

Could go without partaking in this activity ever again, sure.  

Also, would prefer to never be around anyone who would go out of their way to encourage me to partake in this activity.

maybe this is important if you're trying to pretend to your friends you're not an alcoholic

if you like getting twisted and having fun you could just admit to yourself that you're drinking to get hammered and take a shot (or seven)

Whenever I drink with the sole objective of getting hammered I end up in a bad state and it's far less fun  

I enjoy getting hammered as much as the next guy, but when I do, I prefer to savour.

I'm halfway between Tony and seemingly every other LoPPer in terms of my drinking habits. Can't say I've had many crafts, but generic English supermarket ale is often p good.

not sure where i picked this one up, but i've repeated it quite a bit. "no one ever wakes up in the morning and says 'man, i'm glad we started doing those shots.'"

I will only do shots when it seems like the socially appropriate thing to do, like some kind of weird bonding thing or something, but I don't hang around with people who drink to get hammered too often these days because I am a grown-ass man.

Shots are fun on occasion. I don't make a habit out of it though.

Shotting vodka is one of the worst things a human person can possibly do.

One small step away from an intravenous ethanol drip. Vodka is the most crass, utilitarian spirit one can drink, unless you count hillbilly grain alcohol like everclear. Even using it as a mixer is just saying "I want this kool-aid to get me drunk." No apologies, vodka drinkers, your spirit of choice sucks.

I think I've enjoyed some vodka at some point. Not really much of a spirits guy, idk. Scotch can be alright.

When I was younger and into binge drinking, vodka was my go to beverage.

Now I don't drink for the purpose of getting wasted. I'm more likely to have a glass or two of whiskey and stop after the pleasant buzz I get from that.

Also, in my old age, I seem to have turned into a real light weight.

shots are like a test to see who knows their limits and can control themselves and it's fun to watch others fail that test

that being said, i don't like shots and much prefer smoking to drinking anyway

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Sure, all vodka is essentially rubbing alcohol. I'm just suggesting that there's at least some meaningful ground between a slobbering delrium tremens street alcoholic guzzling Wolfschmidt, and a moderate to heavy drinking maintenance alcoholic making a sensible choice to have a shot or two of a decent vodka as an efficient delivery method for a quick buzz, or someone who doesn't really like alcohol period looking for the least offensive way of getting drunk. For the latter, vodka offers a particularly easy way to imbide without "savoring" flavor. There are plenty of people who like getting a buzz or getting drunk but basically dislike the taste of most alcohol. For those people, vodka is a pretty efficient delivery system for the drug.

All three of those categories sound like terrible people to me. Just because savages with no taste buds want to get wasted doesn't mean I have to tolerate rubbing alcohol consumption.
