Most of their hits are boring and get overplayed on classic rock radio. But goddamn if I don't crank the fuck out of "Roadhouse Blues" or "Break in Through" when those tunes come on.

My dad always used to mention this guy's name, as well as "Robby Krieger's." Who I think is maybe/probably? a similar musical guy. He did this so much that I have always assumed my groupie aunt hooked up with one of them, just like she allegedly did with a guy from the Guess Who. This all based off unsubstantiated evidence and hazy childhood memory.

I think so, though line between myth and reality is blurry. Doesn't stop me from telling random people that "this song's about my hot 30 years ago aunt!" when American Woman comes on.

Just realized Krieger was actually in the doors too. So yeah, most likely my dad just loves the doors.

I think it would be easier to like the Doors if I knew nothing about Jim Morrison.

    Pretty insane performances in this:

All their albums rule! "The Soft Parade" destroys everything!!! Classic rock lives!!!!!!!

in my musical education, i have to credit Ray Manzarek and Jon Lord of Deep Purple for fueling an obsession with organs and organ music that continues to this day

    thanks, legends

Yeah, ray seemed to be the coolest door, imo. Did work with iggy pop, x, and, more recently skrillex. In general, as jasper has already pointed out, his playing inspired generations and more then likely will continue to do so. Rp

My sister in law made out with the current drummer of Blue Oyster Cult when they played a sports bar in Arlington Heights a couple months ago. She said she didn't fuck him because he's married.

Ha! My ex-girlfriend's older sister recently got out of a relationship with Archers of Loaf's very own Matt Gentling (bass). Laughing What started as an innocent enough post-show three-way snowballed into dating more quickly (to say nothing of improbably) than even the most optimistic of us could ever have foreseen.

former JDFF regular who went by the name Marilyn once told me that she was sleeping with the drummer from The Reverand Horton Heat, whenever they came through town.

I forget if this was right after or right before she showed me her nipple pierciings.

Looking back, I'm pretty sure she was hitting on me.

Seems like she told me it was the bassist from RHH, but your recollection is probably better than mine. I was spared the piercings. Always got the feeling she wasn't quite hitting on me, but wanted me to try to sleep with her, just to stroke her rapidly aging ego, not necessarily for actual sex.

Drummer, bass player... she was a groupie for the low rent RHH. She creeped me out. I wouldn't have touched her if I was wearing a wet suit.

For better or worse (mostly better, I think) I avoided sleeping with any of the desperate girls of the JDFF.
