The Discovery Center itself was fairly lame, but we did get two Star Wars things and the Captain America vs. the Red Skull set.

These Simpsons Minifigures look better than I thought they would although as the Gen-Y Nostalgia bomb they are pretty perverse and unsettling.

Lego has made Shell sets since the 60s. That lady needs to do her homework.

The blogger misses a few obvious references.  For example, Harvey's clearly defeated a Predator in this one

And I'd think the sax player one is probably a shout-out to Nick Offerman's Duke Silver character in Parks and Rec, not "sexy sax guy"

Mrs. Phixed convinced me to begin an Advent Calendar tradition for our son by making this the first one.

Speaking of important December deities, I'm Jewish and my wife was raised by immigrant Chinese parents so neither of us ever grew up with Santa Claus. At this point we haven't brought him up as a source of gifts to our 4.5 year old son and am curious to see if the questions ever start coming...

What was it like when you found out Santa wasn't real?

I can't recall when that happened exactly but remember being way disappointed because it was so fucking fun to believe some dude in a flying sleigh pulled by deer would bring me stuff just because I behaved well.

Anyway, my parents gave me the Millenium Falcon LEGO set this year for Christmas which is awesome.

My parents always said "Santa Claus is only for those unlucky children that don't get to open presents for eight days in a row like you do."

Christmas Eve '83 (I was 5). I woke up in the night and went for a piss. I caught sight of my Dad carrying a boxed AT-AT downstairs. He didn't see me and I didn't mention it.

I kept up the pretence of believing in Santa for a couple of years and found it increasingly hilarious that my parents and bro actually believed that I still bought the ridiculous charade.

Typing this out, it occurs to me that I was an odd little chap.

This thing will give the Death Star a run for most popular yet insanely priced item in the LEGO Shop.

Also, the Death Star is going to be discontinued at the end of 2015 so I would start saving up before it is too late.
