Just finished up an afternoon spent with my parents. Sat outside talking and laughing. Which was great since its been rough with my mom starting chemo.

I realize millions of people do it, but hard not to think how depressing a day like Father's Day or Mother's Day would be without them around.

Anyway, now I'm waiting in line at Meijer buying wine and standing behind a guy in a Pearl Jam shirt.

I wished Undercooked Sausage a happy Father's Day, today, because he's a great father to two great cats.

I was staring at that picture in disbelief for five minutes before I realised that it's not father Hitchen and his younger son.

That's why no matter how much I'll be otherwise tempted, I'm almost definitely going to opt for the position of uncool dad.

yesterday i realized that being a dad to a three year old is a hell of a lot more fun than being a dad to a two year old.

but holy shit is time flying by right now.

Missed it the first time around, but this article is incredible. Wasn't sure whether to post it here or in "Hockey Talk," but this seemed more appropriate, as it's a lot more about dads in general than hockey players specifically.

Shout out to all the LOPP dads. I know we've welcomed some new ones the past couple years.

I was glad to get two items referencing me as World's #1 Dad. I don't know how these things are decided but I'm glad I've made a good impression in a short space of time.

Called my dad on the phone and he told me about a trip he just took by himself to a famous monastery.  "There are things you don't know about my life," he said, speaking about the personal significance it held to him.

I am very okay with this and want my parents to have secrets I never know about.

GF's parents were asking my mom and dad how they met and they gave a really cagey, awkward "that's a story for another time!"-answer. I don't even know the details but I've always felt like there's more to it that I'd be better off not ever knowing. My parents went through a really bad time 8 or 10 years ago that they're still patching over and I really don't want to know anything more about that, either. I can't deal with the thought of it.

managed to go to a baseball game for my first dad's day. both the little guy and the brewer's starting pitcher had a complete game. i'll probably tell him of these successes for the rest of his life in the most dad way possible.
