Strange timing since the Canucks are not in the Finals this year.

Canadian Man Sorry for Chugging Eight Beers and Swimming to Detroit

If I’m going to be in the paper, I’d at least like them to say I actually made it, even though I got in trouble and everything. I gotta pay fines and stuff. But I don’t want it to sound like I didn’t make it, because then my buddies are going to say 'ha, ha, you didn’t make it.' Because that was the whole thing, to show them I could do it.

    http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2012/dec/07/puppy-room-canadian-university

The idea of a puppy room on hand for stressful situations sounds Willy Wonka-like in its impossible perfection. There should be one in every school, and in John Lewis at Christmas time. Imagine, you are standing, in your habitual frozen, Guardian reader pose, torn between Lego Friends and Ninjago, wondering how to reconcile your children's happiness with your dislike of rampant, violent consumerism.

Lady upset people don't respect her enough to spell her name correctly doesn't respect whipped cream enough to spell its name correctly.

the UC Santa Cruz library organized a "puppy hour" during finals week where stressed students got to play with dogs

it's a really popular new agey student service

Can someone explain to me why choosing between Lego Friends and Ninjago would be so stressful for a Guardian reader? I can take my answer in the American questions thread.

Walking around Toronto last night and this morning I was amazed by all the cute, fashionable girls. Is Toronto like NYC where the top percent of gash migrate there?

Toronto and Montreal certainly have the highest percent in the country, that's for sure.

Where in Toronto are you staying?

I'm staying at The Trump. This is for work so I doubt I'll see much of the city.

a few good waterholes around there. The Irish Embassy is usually pretty good, but not sure about a Wednesday night.

you are just up the street from me in fact. I am at Yonge and Lakeshore.

We have an after party to our event that ends around 10 but then I'm sure some of us will stay out into the morning hours. I'll keep your suggestion in mind!

The group ended up at Parlour. It was fine. I do like what I've seen of this city and am coming back in January. Hoping to catch the David Bowie exhibit upon my return.
