When I was in middle school Lil' Wayne was a huge deal and I remember kids always rocking dope Tha Carter III t-shirts and shit. At the time I thought it was the worst thing ever and I just wanted to be anti-social and sit around listening to Pearl Jam in my bedroom.

I can't even imagine digging modern American music without predominantly listening to rap/hip-hop at this point. That doesn't mean that I am not a fan of some heavy riffage. I am. There just isn't any good riffage going down.

Anyway, the real point to this point, if there is one at all, is that I am amazed how often Soma's sentiment is shared by the average college kid. I always figured every cool dude had encyclopedic knowledge of Pimp C's Trill Entertainment Records or something. Wrong again.

I was just creeping around Members-Only Ninja Turtles Fan Forum/YSG last.fm pages and realized I was the only person here who ever actually took listening to rap musics seriously. Lol.

I don't like the rap music that was released when I was a teenager more. I barely listen to any rap music.

I want to believe that Tha Carter V is gonna steamroll the entire rap game so that Wayne can kick his feet up and retire like the legend he is.

    This is a good start.

I can't believe how popular Iggy Azalea is. She is breaking Billboard records that have stood for over 50 years…

This track is great and her verse is awesome until she spoils the whole thing with that terrible "99 problems" shit.

Listening to Tha Carter III right now for like the 30,000 times. This album is something else. I love that the whole glory days of P4K relevance got basically destroyed entirely by this type of shit. Eventually the only thing that bands like Grizzly Bear could really do that was interesting was talking about how much of a icon and idol Jay-Z is to their art projects.

It got to hard to address their boring ass bullshit on their own terms and so they had to explain how during the recording sessions they loved listening to 2Pac. Cracks me the fuck up.

When I was in Ann Arbor I found it truly heartwarming when I would walk past some party full of kids my age taking blunts to the face on a porch listening to the realest tracks. The cops broke up this one party across the street and motherfuckers were scattering everywhere while Future's "Shit" was popping off inside.

That is truly what it is for. Try to feel sad, or alienated, or whatever when you are downing a bottle of wine and listening to the remix of U.O.E.N.O. It's fucking impossible.
