I'm ok at the musical, "young folks" style of whistling, but have never been able to do the super loud, "show the band your approval" whistling. In those situations , I like to give em a "whoo!" not completely unlike the one Rick Flair made famous.

I'm not much of a whistler in terms of either technique or volume, but I definitely whistle along with baller-ass guitar solos.

I've got a Pearl Jam bootleg, from a show a few years back, where some loud whistler is blowing his lungs out after every song.
