I've never met a single person, not even online, who's even mildly interested in this band.

    Who are their fans?

I know a gay Jewish dude in his late '30 who was obsessed with this band when he was in high school. Still likes 'em, too.

My sister likes them. Her CD collection includes Message in a Box, several Cranberries albums, that one Tori Amos disc, Tigerlily, and a goodly amount of Madonna & Duran Duran.

    Yes.

I enjoy their hits and a few Merchant singles. Mostly just like her voice.

This band is basically The Smiths with a more pleasant frontman.

I own Message in a Box, every Cranberries album plus some singles, and a goodly amount of Madonna & Duran Duran. But I'm barely aware of the existence of 10,000 Maniacs, which I'm attributing to a lack of Tori & Tigerlily. We could work up a 10kM Venn diagram.

I'm pretty sure I saw this band playing live in Grant Park during Taste of Chicago before Cheap Trick or something about 15 years ago. Even then, I was barely aware of their existence.

    EDIT:
    Yup, 1997:
