It's funny because I was listening to the latest Best Show on the way in and a huge portion is Tom saying how no one under 50 should listen to Billy Joel because he sucks.

I let them push the meeting and they got tickets within 3 minutes so I don't know if that was luck or due to little interest in this guy.

our company is growing so fast that there never seems to be enough food during the free lunches which causes the food to disappear that much faster.

Internet is down at work. We can't get on email, Internet or access the Network drive. And yet, everyone is staring at their computers like what he fuck are you pretending you're doing little worker bees?

I'm overhearing lots of fascinating discussions today about wearing or not wearing green clothes.

If I have one more person tell me about Uber cars decorated with Irish flags or Uber delivering corned beef sandwiches I am gonna have a brand hatred induced heart attack.

Sort of amazed we don't have one of Rob Ford yet:

i had to interview 3 people for a position on my team today. they already work here, it'd be a move to probably more interesting work, better tools, more complicated projects.

the first candidate says, "remember when you were a kid playing with GI Joe's? that one kid down the street had the aircraft carrier and you were jealous of him. getting to work on your team would be like finally getting to play with the aircraft carrier."

he gets the job tomorrow. also, great job knowing your audience, coworker.

A female co-worker tells you "you look really nice today" just means she thinks you dress like a slob most other days, right?

So I got picked up for that dream job thing. Then 3 months later I was informed that it was a no-go and I'd be forcibly separated from the navy for failure to promote as a flight officer. Simple case of 2 independent selection boards with no overlap in comms... One saw me as a valuable asset, the other saw me as a guy who hadn't given them anything in the past six years. Unfortunately in this instance the wrong one took precedence.
I guess maybe I'll try to get another govt gig in the state dept or some shit. Can't even begin to fathom how to pretend to care about a corporate job. No interest in anything tbh.

I've been trying to follow this and I'm not sure if I really understand any of it or not. You got fired from the Navy for no reason?
