Love this guy so much. Underrated gash hound in addition to being a great musician.

Callahan played some jams on this weeks Comedy Bang Bang! podcast as well and it got me really interested

surprised that the podcast circuit is an important marketing avenue for musicians like him

No worries Nick I figured it would take some careful thought to put together a list of elite hounds.

the dub version of javelin unlanding was pretty undwhelming so I expect this to be the same.

dream river didn't do nearly as much for me as his previous two but it's still lovely.

Seeing the Apocalypse songs played live and still having the NYC Taper show to revisit those often elevates that album for me above Dream River. But there is this warm, understated beauty to Dream River that I adore and once again his lyrics resonate with me on a ridiculous level.

Somber white dude music indeed, Jasper.

i really enjoy the flutes and the violins. along with the guitar tone, that sonic palate really works for me. i enjoy that the album is simple, with lots of reverb and rustic beauty. it's my first exposure to Callahan.

it is also worth noting that a lot of his very best work took place before 2005 under the Smog moniker

Knock Knock and A River Ain't Too Much To Love, specifically.

I listened to his Live At Third Man Records album this morning. It’s a handful of older songs played very closely to what he’s been doing on tour the past several years. So, nothing new in this collection and he makes a joke about that in between songs.

I did feel like his voice was deeper at times but maybe that was just me.

Live versions of “Riding For The Feeling” and “One Fine Morning” are never things to complain about. Several years ago I was running a marathon weeks after my grandpa died and I didnt typically listen to music during a race but needed it in this instance. I listened to “One Fine Morning” on repeat for the last few miles and finished weepy eyed.
