Seeing the Apocalypse songs played live and still having the NYC Taper show to revisit those often elevates that album for me above Dream River. But there is this warm, understated beauty to Dream River that I adore and once again his lyrics resonate with me on a ridiculous level.
i really enjoy the flutes and the violins. along with the guitar tone, that sonic palate really works for me. i enjoy that the album is simple, with lots of reverb and rustic beauty. it's my first exposure to Callahan.
