They really need to change the way they elect players into the baseball HOF or I'll straight murder somebody when the Big Hurt gets shut out in a few years.

Big Hurt is a first-ballot HOFer. The steroid era probably improves his chances actually because I think he played without any suspicion of cheating.

That's what I think, and I agree, but seeing the names on the 2013 ballot and considering how finnecky voters have been over the years... man

He is fifth all time in doubles, second all time in hit by pitch with 285 and a career walk rate of .107. Should be first ballot.

I also find it a travesty that Clemens got a higher % on the first ballot than Bonds.

Yeah, idk. The HOF is messed up (and always has been, although not this badly). They may change the rules a bit after this embarrassment. I don't lose too much sleep over it.

Not only was there no suspicion, but he campaigned for steroid testing while he was still playing. He's about as squeaky-clean as a guy can get on the steroids issue.

I think him and Maddux will get in first ballot no problem. Maybe Glavine too. Who knows, though, with these nutty writers.

Greg Maddux and Tom Glavine are pretty much the reason I like baseball.

I use a term like "travesty" very loosely in reference to the HoF because no one cares.

Why do writers have control of this? Who gives a shit what a bunch of schmucks that never played the game think.

When you think of the incremental sales these guys will get because they can add "HOF" to their autograph it is insane that "writers" hold the power to deny them this income.

The only less meaningful modern sporting institution I can think of would be the cycling hall of fame. Assuming there is such a thing.

I'm excited to see Toronto finish a distant third in the AL East.

the Blue Jays pitching has a chance to be really excellent this season and help them to a first or second place in the division. i think people are downplaying the good chance they completely collapse though. you can't have that many ex-Marlins and that high expectations without odds of an implosion.

i don't like picking the Angels/Dodgers as the two winners of the West but it feels like at some point failing so many times with a huge payroll will eventually pay off.

i picked the Indians to A.) go out on a limb when i thought it was a toss up B.) because of Terry Francona C.) because i like their lineup

NL WILD CARD 1: Phillies (deep playoff run might prompt a TGDB appearance ITT)
NL WILD CARD 2: Brewers (huge soft spot for Wisconsin, awesome state)
