I don't get it.
Canadian fans of Taylor Swift accidentally sent her 1989 song “Track 3″ — eight seconds of white noise that went on sale after an iTunes glitch — to the top of the online store’s charts.

I am enjoying the new Trail of Dead & would even say this is their third straight album of solid rock jams.

Our security guard got stuck between floors in the lift on All Hallows' Eve.
Being the kind, considerate guy I am, I played Herod 2014 down the lift shaft for him for an hour until the repair crew got him out.

Re: 2014 Musical Recordings
enjoying this offering from Mondkopf under the Extreme Precautions moniker (nice Piranesi remix album art too). Grindecore-inspired cinematic noise-techno just about covers it. This and the new Cut Hands have been brutalising me this week when I haven't been obsessing over Black Metal.

Somehow I suspect you are referring to some chilly angular dense complicated electronic music, and not this also obsession-worthy long-player.

I was searching for Black Metal reviews earlier today and read that entire piece without realising Gruff Ryce had written it.

Gruff Ryce or Gruff Rhys? I know that I'm only confused because I'm an idiot, but I'm confused all the same.

This album is alright but this particular track has been doing it for me. Deep headphones work action.

Re: 2014 Musical Recordings
I heard track 6 from this album on WZRD or one of those on the way home a few days ago, but I didn't catch the band name. A little googling and I figured it out. Apparently some people think they're a Broken Bells ripoff band. Maybe this is bad music, but it sounds okay right now - kind of like Neon Trees on the beach. Probably the Sublime of 2014.

Re: 2014 Musical Recordings
I probably need to go back to that Objekt album but based on a couple of listens, it was one of the many spatial production acrobatics/sound design focused releases that left me largely cold this year.C-poots wrote:

That Arca album would be a definite exception. Digging the new Stott too.

^ only when i close my eyes.
I really like Failed off that album.
If Autechre and Badalamenti jointly programmed an automaton to play the music at the funeral of a melancholic manga android, I think it would sound like Failed.

Would you recommend it to someone who was puzzled as to why anyone cared about his earlier output?

Re: 2014 Musical Recordings
I would. It sounds quite different in parts. Less buried by his lo-fi production, some Bowie like moments & some genuinely bizarre songs that manage to become the bits you end up humming to yourself hours later.
