Thought Dump
Yeah. Ask questions about things. I got rid of the WP64 thread because nobody gives a shit including myself. I'll just post what I actually think about in here sometimes.

As much as I love Yancy's Secret Garden, it no longer seemed like the place to express my spunk-stained vision quest. I'm sorry guys.

Re: Thought Dump
Dudes, this weather has me in really high spirits. I have five or six more pages left on this big term paper and then I am done with my quarter. It's going to be 61 degrees tomorrow and I'm gonna sit on the beach, casually drink brew, and read 2666 basically all day.
I'm tepidly excited about the way this last paper is turning out. I wish I had a lot more time to refine the paper but that is downfall of a 10 week quarter system. I might post the final result of this thing because it has a lot of overlap with some of the stuff that has been going on in both the film & book threads.

I'm seriously thinking about moving to Austin. Being back in Chicago after spending a few days there for the third time in several months has me depressed.

I started my job today and it made me long for the halls of academia so hard. Enjoy the absolute fuck out of these years WP, and milk them for all the dairy you can get your hands on.

Yeah. I'm going to try to make the most of the last 2 years or so. I'm going to pick up a second major but the real goal is to finish up my studies here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontifical_Catholic_University_of_Chile
Mostly because I'd be able to live in Santiago, Chile for a year. I'd become entirely fluent in Spanish. And they have a really awesome aesthetics department. I'd totally fuck with these courses.

Re: Thought Dump
I was trying to think up a screen name for AOL Instant Messenger back in the fourth grade. My friend suggested 'wrestlingpunk' since I wrestled and was a punk. I added 64 because that was my weight class at the time (which like....holy shit, right?) It's just kind of stuck around. When I signed up for SOMB I actually spelled it wrong, leaving out the k. Since I thought that looked dumb I finally abbreviated it down to its present-day form.
Cool story, huh.

Re: Thought Dump
I often wonder how much of an analog the development of my boarding career is to the development of my real life character. Since the span of my boarding has carried me through a lot of my formative years I think that it should probably match-up. The presentation of my real life character is probably just a lot less abrasive (because when I talk to people I don't get to hide behind a keyboard).
I thought about this when (I think C-Poots) mentioned that my obnoxious persona is a hindrance to what used to be a pretty enjoyable presence on this board. I thought that was kind of curious since I get shit on a lot here, obnoxious persona or not. I think in my real life experience and development I am much calmer and don't really deal with as much critical self-doubt as I do on this board (which makes me wonder why the fuck I still board at all sometimes). You guys have quite a few years on me so you can basically always call me out on my bullshit whenever I slip into typical, college-kid cliches. The problem is that I don't always realize that they are cliches and it completely destroys any ability for me to express myself. On the other hand it has been a pretty great experience (which is probably the reason I do stick with it) because my bullshit detector is much stronger from dealing with your guys general elitism/dickishness. I'm basically able to check myself much more frequently than the typical 20 year old kid (at least I think) and recognize when I am acting or thinking foolishly and/or just being a masturbatory douchebag.
I don't know if that makes sense to any of you because your experience is entirely different than mine. I guess this is my version of that PFKaA post.

Re: Thought Dump
This has struck me as a "slow news month" sort of thing since the beginning. I'm honestly not very well read up on it, but as I recall it seemed like the pilot had made a turn towards nearest accommodating divert field as a result of an in flight emergency, and then plane drifted till it crashed. Long period without comms could be explained by the crew being incapacitated and auto pilot taking over, or by electrical fire taking out comm equipment. Or aliens.
This morning I heard a recent update that the area they were looking in at the bottom of the Indian Ocean where experts thought they'd located something ended up being wreckage from a different plane. Which illustrates an oft overlooked fact - the ocean is really really big, and it's not all that unheard of to lose something in it, especially in a zone as vast and deep as the suspected crash site.
