This one was just the perfect respite from all these pages I've been writing for my International Terrorism course. Really want to work it into the citations, even if it's just the link in an irrelevant "retrieved from." Just on the off chance that the prof clicks it.

We should compile an oral history of sound opinions.org and send it to clickhole. To no avail.

Hey, so that thread is fucking retarded. But sometimes I actually feel too pretentious to express actual opinions like that. Maybe pretentious is the wrong word and that thread is certainly not a good example of what I'm talking about but whatever. I was scrolling through SOMB and saw a little thread about Big Star. Everyone was talking with such enthusiasm about how cool this or that album was. I actually don't even know how to do that. I actually feel totally incapable or unwilling of expressing those opinions to an audience that extends beyond my immediate group of friends (which is like two people) and even then its half-baked and insincere.

It always comes out like "yo, so that new ____, fucking tight, amirite?" And that's the whole fucking conversation....

I know there are a few musicians who really and truly believe that Radiohead is fantastic and they are entitled to that opinion, but there's no way they're in the same league musically as R.E.M. I know--there's some subjectivity here, as always. And maybe I'm wrong. I certainly wouldn't have thought that The Smiths would continue to be relevant. Maybe Radiohead will at least maintain that level of adoration. But they sure seem flimsy to me. Maybe even flimsier than Oasis.

You'd have to be as much of a cunt as the guy from Deerhunter to consider REM better than the Smiths. Radiohead don't bother me at all.

This an amazing idea. Creating this just to troll everybody there would be an incredible amount of fun. Imagine something like this with completely wrong photos of said forum members.

Jess: I remember the first time I came across the website and seeing this enigma of a poster who went by the name bhickman. She appeared to be somebody that was incredibly knowledgable about everything that ever existed which led me to start an incredible saga of gratuitous online flirting. Note, I'm bisexual and she seemed totally onboard.

Bhickman: It's true, I am bisexual but prefer to label myself as "trans-fluid."

    etc. etc. etc.
