Just finished doing that! Had breakfast out on the back deck, then sat there and tried to think about nothing. Failed at clearing my mind, so here I am.

I love doing nothing too. Inside, outside, doesn't matter much to me.

Did this just the other night. I'd be doing it tomorrow if it weren't fathers' day.

Re: porchdwellers thread
If sitting on your deck counts, yes. We don't have a "porch" at our house. But we have a deck I enjoy lounging on with a book, a drink and some headphones.
Sometimes I go out there and just sit in the cool shade half napping/just staring at the trees and occasionally glancing at the kids playing. It's all lawn so there isn't much to hurt them except each other.
The other day it was beautiful- Friday or Thursday was it? But I def. did some deck-dwelling that day.

Re: porchdwellers thread
I love my porch. It's big and spacious, nice chairs, I have hanging plants all around, and lots of lovely art and statues. Plenty of candles for at night, too. Today I spent some time and watched the rain fall from the deck, while drinking some raspberry zinger. I have a beautiful Ginkgo tree out front, that is very healthy and hypnotic to watch in the breeze. Just a great spot to be in when I want to go deep

What kind of art and statues because that sounds like the porch of some zany aunt combined with someone that lords over a porn empire.

Re: porchdwellers thread
Thank you for asking, Nick. I have a few buddha statues, one that has a solar light on it that shines at night. A fat buddha statue that brings me a smile. Some eagle feathers, an ocarina flute, a sage bundle. Incense and an incense holder. And a dildo in the corner for those that step on my lawn.

Re: porchdwellers thread
Damn I don’t have that porch anymore. Lol at those posts I made.
I do have a back deck though. I touched it up with some paint tonight while listening to Eliot Smith and bob Marley
We think we are going to sell this house now too. Only owned it a year

Re: porchdwellers thread
I've still never had a porch. Original post was made for a deck I used to enjoy. Now we have a balcony, which is relatively private but really lit up by neighbors' lights and not as quiet.

Saw Toots Hibbert, last night! And when I got home, I had a mosquito-dampered conversation with a neighbor on his porch!

Re: porchdwellers thread
Neighbors across the way of the backyard have back porches directly facing ours. I've never seen them out here except when they grill burgers or something. They rarely use the porch in the evening, is what I'm trying to say.
Suddenly, they've made repeated appearances, sitting outside and talking and smoking, etc. This changes the game!

Re: porchdwellers thread
I tend to slump in the camping chair I sit in anyway, to the degree that I'm invisible to most people across the way behind the railing and the one or two folding chairs leaning up against it that I use as a privacy barrier. But doing so now feels like an act of pure submission.
The happiest afternoons of my adolescence were spent on my friend's backyard trampoline, indeed it was all downhill from there

Re: porchdwellers thread
My new backyard kicks ass. There are actually no houses behind me, I look at a shallow tree line and then a railroad track. Freight comes through now and again adding to the chill vibe, and I enjoy the privacy.
Just smoked a bowl then watched the sun set, listened to the cicadas. Finally reached chilldulthood.

Re: porchdwellers thread
Been doing a lot of Porching lately.
We got one of those outside furniture sets that is like a couch and recliner. Basically a living room on the deck.
I got one of those mini-fridges that is the probable equivalent of a European full-sized fridge. Blackstone flat top grill. Mosquito netting.
It's been pretty nice sitting out in the late afternoon to evening reading my kindle and listening to tunes. Just having a beer or lemonade.
Feeling like Wilford Brimley lately.

Re: porchdwellers thread
We got new furniture for our back deck this Spring. Even when it’s been ungodly hot this week we put up the umbrella and sit outside in the early evening with a drink.
If this is life now I wonder what I’ll be like in my 60s.
