Re: Now Playing
I've been playing the first three Leonard Cohen albums all day. Some upper echelon tunes, man. I have a question for SpiritofEden too. Is it true that Leonard Cohen's poetry is actually a part of the standard public school curriculum in Canada. I've heard stories about this and I just want some confirmation either way. It would be pretty fucking cool if it was.

Re: Now Playing
I didn't really listen to music much last year. I'm correcting that though this year. I've been super into Bowie, Waits, Cohen, Dylan, Van Morrison, and Pharaoh Sanders. I wanna dig further into the discographies of these songwriting greats and get balls deep in jazz, gospel and really early blues.
Any and all recommendations are welcome, as always.

I think 2016 will be similar for me. I'm not at all interested in new music right now. It's only January but I've been listening to Bowie, Iggy Pop, Roxy Music and The Velvet Underground constantly.
I've got the Cohen box set that I ignored all of last year and want to dive back into along with shit like Lou Reed solo stuff. I just got the This Heat vinyl box set in the mail too. I'm sure once the new Radiohead album comes out I'll listen to that non stop but my new music curiosity level is very low right now.

Re: Now Playing
I bought the Wire for the first time since Dean Blunt was on the cover and now I'm just indiscriminately flicking through that and searching for random names that pop up on Spotify.
Maybe this will prove more fruitful once I actually sit down to read the thing.

For Van Morrison, that album is Veedon Fleece.
Pretty typical record dork stances with regards to those two artists, in fact.

Amazing comp of early Japanese house.
Picked it up for £14 today...no idea why because its 3xLP, only came out in November and is great.

He is so cool. Whenever "Oui" comes on the radio I lose it. I've embarrassingly/hilariously sang along to that track with my girlfriend in the car.

Re: Now Playing
I've bought a few Kaito/Quadra releases on Bandcamp and I really want to support him but even if this was brand-new music there's no way I'm paying $21 for a digital album. And I got emails about 2 of them today!

This is really good, I don't know how I came across it but I assume Brugs knows all about it. Been looping between "Kakashi" and "Semitori No Hi" and has put my mind at peace.

Re: Now Playing
Fuckin A. Freakishly good album. "Romeo and the Lonely Girl", Runnin' Back", and "Angel From the Coast" should be in heavy rotation on Classic Rock Radio alongside the two massive songs from this album. No bad songs, but those three stand out TO ME as undervalued CR tracks.
NP: Mark Lanegan - Imitations
I really like the Lanegan album "I'll Take Care of You". I got this last week and it is another collection of covers and it's pretty awesome, esp. the Carpenters/Elvis tune "Solitaire".
Some guys just are good at covers and their originals may be ok, but who cares, what's the difference. Some guys write good songs, some guys sing them.

Re: Now Playing
Jailbreak is more genuinely front-to-back "solid" than just about any canon-worthy classic rock album one could name, I think. "Fight or Fall" is of course one of the more serious business deep cuts in town.
