THE 2016 US PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

Within an hour today I saw a Tweet that a majority of Republicans believe President Obama is a Muslim and another that Trump would currently beat any Democrat challenger in an election.

And while I see shit like this almost everyday for some reason I was so paralyzed with fear and confusion I literally felt numb for about 10 minutes.

If anyone would step up and straight up ask them what it is that they're actually celebrating here -- which won't happen because we have to write a new round of culture war thinkpieces instead -- I wonder what they'd even say.

Just figured out what this shit is. Seems like a pretty solid life decision. She'll get to quit her demanding government job and make millions for a minimal effort spouting hate filled bullshit and doing endorsements for chick fil a or whatever. I heard some Republican consultant on TV tonight saying that "women" aren't going to put up with this latest insult to Carly Fiorina's looks, and Chris Matthews told her that Trump's surged with GOP women by like 15%. She said "Oh, what's he at 17% now? HAR HAR."
"No, actually like 38% - he's more popular with women now than men*" and then she just about how Jeb Bush, or maybe Walker, or Rubio, is going to undo the damage that Barack Hussein Obama has done to this country with his politics of division.

*I don't know how legit that stat is, but still, it's hilarious.

Also seen some interesting arguments that Cruz is strongly positioning himself to pick up Trump's supporters when (if?...!?) Trump finally fades. Apparently many of the Carson deserters are already with Cruz.

Heard that about Cruz. Nasty demagogue and a fraction of a man but shrewd. Initially pegged Bush or Rubio as the beneficiary of so many shrill far right voices.

I think Cruz has the strongest evangelical credentials so he's getting the really outspoken base voters who aren't sticking to the outsider candidates. He's supposedly running one of the best campaigns too.

I'm way less comfortable with him getting the nomination than Trump or Carson, I think the GOP establishment's dislike of him will still keep him out, but I'm nervous.
