Re: family filmz
I enjoyed this movie a lot, maybe more than any Pixar movie in recent memory. The trailers don't come close to conveying the effect of watching it on a big screen for 100 minutes and how pretty and subtly hypnotic that experience actually is. The soundtrack is great too. On one hand it's a very conventional kind of story but it also cuts out so much of the bullshit that usually defines those kinds of stories and that's really refreshing tbh
Leaves me wishing I could see it again, this time with some edibles beforehand, if I wasn't in the middle of taking a surprising successful break from all that in general. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess would not be the case for Spider-Verse, which would probably leave you totally confused about anything and everything that's happening.
The only reasonable explanation for this movie being a "failure" is that the public is dumb as hell, doesn't want original movies anymore or even know what to do with anything that's not based on an existing IP, and has also now been trained to consume anything Disney-related exclusively at home.

Sgt Stubby is a tough film to watch. One of the few that brought me tears in a theater.
At the time, my wife turned to me and said, "Are you crying? Oh my god."
My immediate emotional response was, "Shut up, stupid!"
And a few people laughed at me. Fuck them. That dog was a goddamn hero. Put respect on his name.

Saw Wonka w/ my girls the other day and I genuinely loved it. Gave me some of the same "we're all in this together" feels that the Paddington movies did. Also, I couldn't log into this account for some strange reason for the last two months.

Good to have ya back and thanks for the rec. I’m gonna try to see both Wonka and those Paddington movies.
I vaguely recall getting a random email from forummotion that said like “a new user, Miguel K has joined or left the board”) so maybe that’s when the finicky stuff happened?

Yeah, I forgot my pw and couldn't retrieve it so created a new account, but couldn't make that one work either. And then yesterday for some reason my pw auto-populated again. WhoTF knows.
