Thread to link to articles you've enjoyed reading recently.

I'm not sure if we have one on this mk. I'm always looking for a distraction at work, so by all means, link away. Any topic is acceptable, but I'd rather it didn't end up being all music writing. Interesting article about the state of modern British politics*:

    http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/2015/08/owen-jones-right-are-mocking-jeremy-corbyn-because-secretly-they-fear-him

*I wanted to start the thread with something a bit more raunchy, but most of what I've been reading recently can't have made too much of an impression on me. Nothing comes to mind.

I don't have the link handy but I read a Vice article last week where some dude went on a date with Natalie Imbruglia and really enjoyed it.

Did the guy really enjoy the date or did you really enjoy the article?  I'm assuming both but want to be sure before I commit to reading it.

There are 3 or 4 paragraphs in this article that Coates ends so fiercely most writers would be proud to finish an entire effort with. But he simply uses it as a jumping point to further his story.

Absolutely. It is one of the most engaging and provoking pieces of cultural criticism I have ever read. I am amazed by everything this guy publishes and feel that each one is somehow better than the last. Each time I finish reading one of his pieces I feel this incredible excitement in being a small part of his narration of the American experience, which is very strange considering how absolutely horribly and almost inescapably bad it is. But then, my gut reaction to his writing is probably conditioned by the historical experience written onto my differing skin pigmentation, which is obviously at center of his entire corpus thus far.

Snippets of this Anthony Bourdain article have been posted on some news sites but the entire interview is worth your time.
