lol
that appears to be a link to a Real Estate album.
This should do the trick
sorry, Unod - poor clipboard husbandry!

Some of this is really good. I have never really listened to this band before.Bruegel wrote:that appears to be a link to a Real Estate album.
And then some of it sounds like The Shins to me so.

Re: 2017 Musical Recordings
I think The Shins are the single most boring, horrible band in the past 20 years and Real Estate would be #2.
I vaguely remember a thread back on SOMB where I ranted about my Shins hatred.

Re: 2017 Musical Recordings
i also liked The Shins and can still occasionally enjoy their music.
these two bands are like the epitome of the "indie rock sound" that got insanely popular 15 years ago. The Shins were at the forefront of that with the Garden State soundtrack, etc. Real Estate are consciously emulating that sound and have zero ambition to sound different than that.
Real Estate in particular have some fantastic songs, then other good songs that are in their languid, groovy indie rock style. i like pretty much all of it because i love the sound.
no more trying to force it down y'alls throats tho.

Re: 2017 Musical Recordings
Should mention that I fully appreciate the hypocrisy of hating The Shins/Real Estate while loving another new Spoon long player.

So there's another Spoon long player??
I'm in. I've liked pretty much everything I've heard by Spoon.
I think not seeing or even hearing about Garden State until after I'd heard that shutes too narrow album a bunch of times made me more inclined to like the shins, and I did and still sorta do. Haven't heard anything by them since that one video where they were like in Australia or something though.

Royal Trux "first new album in 17 years" is rehearsal recordings of old songs in preparation for reunion shows.
I'll buy it the week it comes out, but still.

The 22 track Drake release is really great. I love the smooth r&b stuff this guy does.

Re: 2017 Musical Recordings
I am hyped for the new Gorillaz album.
Really loved the track the released back in January and it was embarrassing how many of their "fans" just didn't get it at all. Look at these dipshits trying to focus-group their music!

I'm halfway through the new Actress album. It's full of sounds I've never heard before.

Ive always had this association in my head between the miniature worlds Cunningham creates Des Esseintes' rooms-within-rooms in Against Nature. I was really pleased to read a recent interview in which he referenced James Hampton because it sort of joined the dots.

I was really into this when I wrote that post. Then "Dancing in the Smoke" came on and something about it just really made me feel uneasy and I had to turn it off. I was listening to it in the dark, or something like that.

I've had the new Milk Music for a few weeks now but am first getting to it now. Some great rock and roll tunes on this! It's not long but they do some random, weird shit that all seems to come together by the end.

such fire. i realized the other day that i haven't given To Pimp A Butterfly a complete listen ever. it's really not my cup of tea musically. but every song on Damn. has something great to offer. yah yah!
i'm pretty embarrassed because the Bono feature is one of my favorite moments on the album.
great choice for the second video:
this song is so hardbody. like a bulletproof Wraith.

This album takes everything I love about TPAB and GKMC and blows it out for 50 minutes. I would tend to drift off at points in the previous two albums. But I'm engaged the entire time with DAMN and I can listen to it multiple times a day.
I'd listen to TPAB and need like 2 or 3 days before I felt like diving back in.
