I've listened to the Gas record piecemeal several times and haven't gotten hooked yet. Not really liking it, but it may be my listening context (at work). It feels like a night time album.

I've given other 2017 indie pop albums a spin. Mac demarco...pretty blah for me. I feel old...

The father John misty feels like a randy Newman type album, it's alright but just so preachy

I was let down by the slow dive album, it's not very hooky...still listening to it and hope it clicks with me

Surprisingly I love the new SKM/Jesu split, after only liking a track or two off his last several releases. Yay!

    Enjoyed the Visible Cloaks record

Really though I've fallen off the hipster map, and mostly listen to new age, select ambient, thrash and stoner metal, and bands like Jesus lizard, etc.

The FJM album fell out of my rotation quick. I do like his voice but the album is samey and the songs don't hold up.

Slowdive is maybe my favorite album of 2017 so far.

The best metal albums I've heard this year are Pallbearer, Power Trip, Venenum, Hymn & Mastodon.

Pallbearer isn't even that metal or doom anymore. They've gone off is some amazing prog/doom/metal hybrid that sounds quite good to me!

I just haven't dug anything Milk Music has done since that first EP. Seems like I'm missing out on something, but I can't hear it.

i think Salad Days is masterful. 2 is good. Another One was solid.

for me, he's established himself as an artist that deserves a listen when he comes out with a new project. seems like a chill bro.

I never liked Childish Gambino, but this new single is awesome. I haven't seen Get Out yet but I know this plays in the opening credits. What a great track.

Is there any reason to listen to this whole album? Probably not, right? Or is it all this good and I'm fucking up?

Flipped through the "NEW STUFF" bin at Squeezebox today.
Saw new ones by Mark Lanegan, Afghan Whigs, David Bowie ("No Plans", final recordings, probably really good), some other stuff. Records are too expensive now, and I'd just spent a bunch of money on groceries, so I bought a book.

    * Lanegan / DeMarco split episode of WTF from a week or two ago is worth a listen.

This is truer with each passing year. I'm back to largely buying CDs and old, but not particularly elite (see again: cost), used records.

As a 33 yo father - and going to be dad x2 in ~7 months - I'm definitely old, but I REALLY look forward to new Mac DeMarco music. Going to see him in September, which is a pretty big deal for me.

This song is the length of my drive to work. I've played it every day on my drive to work for the last couple weeks. Pretty much perfect.

I don't get it yet, but I'm trying and hope to get there. When I put this on I think to myself, why am I not just listening to Pygmalion? That shit still sounds brand new to me.
