Re: local politics
not sure why it's the tv station's fault? should they be declining the ad spending?

So wait, Jeanne Ives is controlled by Madigan now?
You get the feeling Rauner blames Madigan if his breakfast cereal gets soggy?

Re: local politics
all kinds of stuff blowing up in the IL elections this week.
the staffer harassment by one of madigan's guys, who was coincidentally fired as soon as the story was about to be made public, has all kinds of people assuming there's much more to this story behind the scenes.
then you have our new shitheel editor at the Chicago Reader inserting himself into the JB pritzker/blago tapes conversation, trying to make a name for himself immediately, and probably losing the confidence of his staff (that he probably never had to begin with)
now you have ANOTHER case of legionnaires disease contracted by a person staying at the Quincy Veterans home. you'll recall 13 people died of this after Rauner's admin slow walked any kind of official response to positive tests at the home. then Rauner made a stunt of staying there for a few days earlier this year, and had a few residents of the home join him as guests for the state of the state address a couple weeks back. guess what? the new case of legionnaires disease is one of the dudes who was his guest at the state of the state. what a failure he & his "beat team in america" admin are.

Re: local politics
I haven't heard anyone else say this, and this theory might either be so obvious it doesn't bear mention or so far off the wall it's literally insane, idk.
What if Illinois Republicans just know they don't have a legitimate candidate to primary Rauner with and are resigned to the fact that he's probably going to be defeated in November, and are just trying to seize the moment by trying to normalize as much far-right rhetoric and offensive stereotyping as they can before it's inevitably perceived as "problematic" by the average Illinois voter in another five or ten years?
This ad is so stupid-looking that, to the average voter in this stupid fucking state, it renders any controversy about it into nothing but more hand-wringing by liberal snowflakes. It won't work for Ives but it can move the Overton window by normalizing offensive stereotyping and continuing to push the anti-PC narrative, which is literally the only idea the Republican party has been able to successfully run on anymore.

JB will sink us all if he gets in.
Whether they're real or not, there's no way he ever gets free of his ties to Blago.

Maybe. There is some sincere anger, though, over what some social conservatives are calling "a betrayal" over whatever abortion thing Rauner signed, which is of course ridiculous given he never ran on social conservatism whatsoever and is big part of why he won in the first place. And then, obviously, there is Donald Trump.
I still think if Pritzker gets the nomination he has a pretty great chance of winning, simply because Rauner's weak and Illinois dems are fired up. But he'll probably be terrible and won't last long.

I've been noticing a lot of JD's money is now going towards Biss attack ads. I'm glad that fat fuck is at least going to have to sweat a little bit.
