i enjoy this Clams Casino aping production a lot

Gibbs album is pretty repetitive and he's kind of a boring rapper though

two of the best mixtapes of the past few months that i haven't gotten intimate enough with to know them track by track

Chicago's Chance the Rapper who has now decided he is also a reggae artist

    https://youtu.be/FTDJmROdC0k

the album from the surprisingly interesting and likable Mac Miller

    https://youtu.be/Ehi0qfxs3Us

both links are the full mixtape/album

Dom is the silliest rapper ever but when you combine beats this smooth and shimmering with lyrics like "Lakers versus the Pistons, this shirt cost me a ticket, my girl purse is ridiculous, parmesan on my chicken" and you have a winner

Billboard has been trying some interesting things to make the charts more relevant and quickly connect people to actually buying the music they like.

i just discovered this new "Play Entire Chart" feature they have on all their charts now that will automatically populate a Spotify playlist with the latest chart hits. you can get the whole Hot 100 as a Spotify playlist, or the Hot Rap/R&B tracks, Hot Country, whatever you feel like.

    check it out: http://www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100

Was riding the L listening to a Radiohead live bootleg when I saw some graffiti on a building on Wells that read

    VERSACE.
    VERSACE.
    VERSACE.
    VERSACE.

and I nodded my head knowingly.

    haven't heard it on purpose

i just assumed that all the hype over that verse was the result of a "slow news day" and refuse to believe that it was actually a watershed moment

Mostly agree, but even then, heard about this damn verse from everywhere from internet to local radio in a three hour span, can't say that for many songs not affiliated with a member of the Neptunes in 2013.

i've mostly been surprised by the breadth of sites i've seen this verse covered on. i think that says more about the various media outlets you (and I, really) follow and less about Kendrick Lamar. why do outlets that don't typically cover hip hop feel that Kendrick is appropriate to their audiences? it seems like he has passed the test as "smart" and "lyrical" enough for the white critical mainstream, so now his "diss verses" get covered on Huffington Post/NPR/Yahoo News.

^i can't think of anything actually smart to say about it so that's what came out.

To be fair, at least a few of the places I heard about it were traditional hip-hop venues. Which is not to say that Jezebel isn't where I usually learn pop culture things.

But I think it goes to something Mitchell was saying when MAAD City came out, where it compares more to say Archandroid than Flockaveli. Why that's the case, I dunno, but it's been a thing since he's been around that he's someone white critics can get down with.

he raps like that on every song, yeah. every beat isn't some abrasive industrial thing though.

if you don't like that high pitched flow you can't really get into Danny.
