The first three U2 albums are all great. Then it gets really ugly, and welp, they had a highly successful career from then on.

Boy is a fantastic record. Not all that much Joy Division going on, though.

U2 and I go way, way back. Talking Heads got me into Brian Eno; Brian Eno got me into U2 (and a million other things, yeah); U2 got me into The Velvets. Really helped to lay the groundwork, in my young age. Anyway, I feel like ranking them shits like they're Coen brothers films. Check out how largely paint-by-numbers this is!

Achtung Baby > The Joshua Tree > Pop > Boy > (The Unforgettable Fire = Zooropa) > (October = Rattle & Hum = War) > All That You Can't Leave Behind > No Line on the Horizon > How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb

I kept fast forwarding this and every time I'd stop, he was still yelling "VIVAAAAAA" except one part when it sounded like he was saying "What I got you got to get it put it in you."

everything after chronic town sort of sucks, i've tried to like any of their albums several times

ive always liked war and boy but figured i was alone and U2 being godawful these days made me figure i was just wrong and never revisited their early catalogue.

The last few years everytime I've heard REM I immediately think of that one SNL sketch where Tom Hanks' wife "turns into her mother." He keeps trying to snap her out of it by reminding her that she is young and cool like, "NO!! Your favorite band is R.E.M.!!!!" LOL
It's odd that this thought response has only started recently since its been like a decade plus since i've seen that sketch on reruns, original airing was when i first became aware of the show's existence like probably circa The Money Pit.

Chronic Town is neat. I did get really into Reckoning one time! Call me crazy, but I think they accidentally wrote some classic songs with that one.

    After that shit gets dicey.

But yeah, Tom Hanks's wife is otm. Those guys are just the opposite of cool in my mind. As opposed to a band like the Meat Puppets, whom I would actually go so far to say that I feel a kind of kinship with as a music loving American male.

Also, they're from the south, emerged during the '80s, and actually have as many good albums as R.E.M. fans want you to think R.E.M. has. IMO.

Playing this in Ned Braden's honor:

Got the EP at a Best Buy somewhere in California. Along with Weird Al's Polka Party, I believe.

Song sounds like what Kevin Drumm might call "a muted duck fart from three blocks away" compared to this shit, though:

I can still put on Achtung Baby once a year and sort of enjoy it. The early albums are fine too. I think seeing them play live years ago touring their recent albums soured me on the older material.

Bono wasn't into them at all and just wanted to play that weak shit on the new releases. I know they have played "I Will Follow" 12 million times but when you mail that in so you can go balls out on "All Because Of You" I am kind of like just kill yourselves U2.

Last time I saw U2 they DID NOT play "With or Without You". They did play "New York" and I think they played "When I Look at the World".

You sacrifice one of the Big 3 to fit in a song that even the most ardent U2 supporters cannot defend you should be refunding the fans on the way to the parking lot. Not pushing $25 coffee mugs.

Also, I have multiple industry sources confirm that Bono has body odor that clears the room.

Was watching Daryl's House YouTubes featuring Joe Walsh recently. "Life's Been Good" and "Funk #49." Kinda jarring because those songs have never sounded/looked so HD. But pretty sick, regardless.
