Re: college forever
3/4 complete. As long as my inebriation and sleep deprivation didn't fuck up that last submission of comp exam papers (fingers crossed), I'm hopefully due to graduate (well… finish. Graduation's later in July I think) by this weekend.

Fuck yeah motherfucker.
Dunn.
Drop mic, drop pack, ship off to the deepest ocean blue for a while. See you later, or, if i have decent boat internet, sooner. Hopefully when I get back, I'll be a man with a graduate degree.

Re: college forever
I just took the GMAT exam for the second time, after having done pretty poorly the first go round, and killed it this time. I submit my first application tomorrow and four more after that in pretty quick succession.

MBA. Focus on investment management and applied economics so not too far off really.

Should I include "sticktap to William Patrick Corgan" on my application essay to University of Chicago?

Political Science PhD. Applying to focused Poli Sci programs at Chicago, Harvard, Brown, Yale. Applying to practitioners/interdisciplinary IR program at Tufts Fletcher School. Not sure what my chances are, but I think I’m an interesting candidate. We’ll see how it plays out.

Re: college forever
I’m old as fuck to be doing this right now, but I’ve already put in a butt load of time with the military so this is affectively me trying to launch a second career. If everything works out, five years or so from now I’ll have a PhD and I’ll start looking for tenure-track professor positions. Failing that, maybe I’ll run for political office somewhere.

Best of luck Ned and godspeed. Have you ever visited Hyde Park? You have roots in the Chicagoland area, isn't that right?

Might be time to nuke the board. For Ned's sake.

I think the dirt to dig up on here is probably minimal. Being White House chief of staff, for instance, would be a lot more compromising.

Re: college forever
I hate student loans.
Can't even choose which bank account I want to set up the automatic payments to pay them from. If you want to switch, it takes "one to two billing cycles" for it to kick in and start drawing from the specific account that you wish to pay from.
I wanted to ask the girl on the phone why but I didn't want to bust her nuts and she probably didn't have an answer for me anyway, I mean why would she know that? The self-service website is broken and useless. I thought I was done posting in this thread but you're never really done here are you

Re: college forever
Group projects are the worst thing ever, and in the days of virtual learning they are somehow even worse. Popped in after a 13 hour workday to update my portion of a powerpoint brief with my speaker notes only to find that another dude in the group basically took everything I was going to say and factored it into his section. Also, another dude changed my slides around.

I don’t understand this reference but my son just came downstairs grouchy even though it’s the last day of school and I said this to him and he cracked up.

Re: college forever
LOL awesome.
In the movie Midsommer, there is a doofus dude who is on vacation with his GF played by Florence Pugh. He sorta sucks, and keeps talking about his thesis he’s working on… he is very clearly not on a great trajectory to finish, and I sorta feel like he dodged a bullet when some other stuff ends up happening to him.
I feel like that dude lately.

Re: college forever
The Supreme Court decision is almost hilariously appalling. An anti-democratic institution full of illegitimate appointees are ensuring that an entire generation of postgrads is trapped in indentured servitude to international financial institutions. As someone trapped in that debt trap, it is infuriating and I wish malice upon all six of them. As someone who really finds the self-inflicted collapse of the American empire to be incredibly funny to watch from afar... it's hard not to laugh. This really demonstrates how completely antiquated the nation-state has become for the most elite, rich, and powerful in that country. There is no effort made to prop up a domestic consumer base. Bidenomics is nothing other than an antiquarian hobbyhorse of a dying generation.
