Re: workingman's blues
I just submitted an application that I have been working on for the past week for a really competitive position in New York City. This is an unexpected change of course for me, but I really hope that I at least advance into the next couple of stages of the process.
Wish me luck!

Late to the party, but good luck man. Applications are the fucking worst. I hope that you at least get your foot in the door for an interview.

Going to stay with Levi's until end of March when we get bonuses and then moving back to NYC. Should be making enough money with the photography gigs and have enough saved that a move without a job should be fine for a few months if it comes to that.

Re: workingman's blues
Thanks for the well wishes. It already didn't work out tho!
Fortunately, I am not as bummed as I thought I would be. It would have been cool to get an interview, but I always knew there was a very outside chance of it. Now I am full speed ahead on my plan to move to Italy. It's probably for the best.

Re: workingman's blues
I just purchased all that is necessary to build a small product photography studio so I'll be trying to pick up clients for this soon. Only thing is I took more responsibility at the office and committed to a more regular photo submission schedule for the Chronicle as well so I doubt I'm going to have a start-to-finish free day for the next 6 months or so. Good/bad

I have an important client visiting today and they want to get a drink later tonight at the Trump Hotel.
There are hundreds of places in Chicago - thousands of places - and they pick the Trump fucking Hotel.

You should go to the bathroom during your time there, take a gigantic shit, and don’t flush. Then later, leave the place with at least one stolen pint glass.

He had to cut the cheese, though, and he wound up spray-farting his lobster boxers (his favorites) with "liquid poo." He went into a stall, took off his pants, removed his boxers, wiped his ass with those boxers, put back on his pants, threw away his shitty drawers in the little receptacle beneath the paper towel dispenser, and "free-balled it the rest of the night, dude."

Petty vandalism may be satisfying in the moment, but some poor custodial worker is going to have to deal with any ensuing mess.
If you really want to stick it to Trump, match the bar tab (or some multiplier thereof) in a donation to Trans Lifeline or a similar org.

Whatever I’m on a late train home listening to the wonderful music of Low. Get to wake up in a few hours and do it all over again.

Damn. I hate that you’re right re. vandalism, but I am sticking to my suggestion to do all the stealing from that monster and his enterprise.

It's OK for some nitwit to suggest Trump fucking Tower in Chicago but it would be outrageous to object. Fucking clients man.

Good luck Ned!!
My company decided to fuck me over and find some insane loophole to avoid paying me a $350 bonus that I absolutely earned and am fully deserving of. Even my direct supervisor is appalled by it. It ended with me telling the management, through the vessel of HR, that they can get stuffed and should definitely hire new people because I am no longer going to work weekends and overtime to cover for the fact that they are perpetually understaffed. I don't even care about the $350, but I am a man of principle and will not accept this flagrant robbery. Fuck em.

sometimes i wonder if i'll ever make enough money from music to quit my restaurant jobs. it's really weird going from playing shows to hundreds of people in a huge room to asking some banker guy if he wants his cup of soup out first

Co-worker sent me a Slack this evening: “Have you ever listened to Greta Van Fleet?”
I haven’t responded.

5 of my Slack channels at work are littered with GIFs from The Office.
If it wouldn’t alienate me I’d type, “Show sucked, wasn’t funny, stop this.”

Re: workingman's blues
Is it common in offices for people to communicate primarily through Gchats and e-mails and basically avoid any face-to-face interaction. Because that was the vibe in the office that I was working in and it was really fucking awkward. There would be people working in the cubicle next to me that would send me a gchat rather than just standing up and asking me something directly. I hated it so much.
I hate the idea of a Slack channel filled with recycled GIFs from a stupid American sitcom. It's makes me cringe.

Given my proximity to Silicon Valley, I can speak with authority when I say that at least half of techy office workers would prefer this.
On some level I understand have a communication protocol. It's very annoying when people tap you on the shoulder all fucking day to cut into your workflow and ask some dumb question.
Slack is a massive, massive cultural thing. Slack channels for non-work conversations get DEEP. Discussions over who posts good content and who is an egotistical spammer. People fucking love chatting!
