Re: let's baseball
Are the Milwaukee Brewers for real or will they fade in the second half of the season? With jerseys that good they deserve a World Series.

Can't say I've ever seen this before.
Cubs still suck, tho.

vIv wrote:Ludicrously detailed predictions with final season totals, just because it’s fun to put such things down for posterity and see just how wrong one was:
NL wins the All-Star Game, securing Home Field Advantage
NL West: Dodgers, 94 wins
NL East: Nationals, 93 wins
NL Central: Pirates, 93 wins
Wild Cards: St. Louis (91 wins), Giants (after winning one-game playoff 6-4 forced after they tie with Atlanta for second wildcard berth at 90 wins apiece)
AL West: A's, 93 wins
AL East: Rays, 94 wins
AL Central: Tigers, 91 wins
Wild Cards: Yankees (92 wins), Angels (90 wins)
Postseason:
NL
Giants win one-game wildcard playoff against St. Louis in an unexpected 8-1 laugher
Dodgers take NLDS against Giants 3-2 via a Game 5 Kershaw-Bumgarner pitcher's duel classic in Chavez Ravine
Nationals win NLDS against Pirates 3-1
Nationals take NLCS from Dodgers in 6
AL
Angels win wild card single game over Yankees defying nostalgic hopes for Jeter Swan Song
ALDS: A’s win over Angels in 5
ALDS: Tigers win over Rays 3-1
ALCS: A’s finally get the monkey off their back and beat Detroit at home in 7
World Series: A’s make relatively quick work of the Nationals, clinching in Game 5 at home.
The Oakland A's, your 2014 World Series Champions. You heard it here first.
So my predictions weren't actually too far off the mark (except for the A's, sorry about that Michael K).
Giants looked pretty strong last night. Great to see Pablo and Belt get their strokes back. If we can take one from the Nationals in DC (entirely possible behind either Peavy or Hudson), this could happen. Would love to see MadBum and Puig finally get after it with the gloves off in the NLCS.

Re: let's baseball
Let's do this! I just checked, in game 1 we're up against Kershaw, who's one of the 2 or 3 baseball players I can name, so that's probably bad for STL.yancy wrote:See you guys in October for hot Cardinals action.

Re: let's baseball
That Royals-As game was fantastic. I was rooting for the Royals the whole time but then I felt terrible for the As at the end of it. Shouldn't have traded to get Jason Hammel. Beane seems nutty to me because that Cespedes trade doesn't make much sense either, in both the short and long run.

What team has the best pitching if you take Clayton Curshaw out of the picture?

Re: let's baseball
I'm gonna be glued to the television today watching these playoff match-ups. Rooting for an improbably Royals-Orioles WS. And even though I have some built up animosity towards both the Dodgers and Cardinals I am really excited for that series.

Yeah, no question. Their number five guy is probably better than everyone on our staff save Bumgarner.
But don't count us out...

I'm pretty bad too. I couldn't name a single Cardinal a few days ago! But I still hoot & holler for them.zappo wrote:The worst, Jerry. Minus Yancy. I guess.

Can't drum up a rooting interest in the NL teams when they're just taking turns going to the World Series each year. AL all the way. The Royals are an unstoppable baffling machine of destiny.
