The drum break starting at 3:15-ish is way more jungle-esque than anything I was expecting to hear in such a PBS/NPR/Barnes & Noble-friendly recording.

The beginning sounds like this and from there it just sounds like some chopped up Luke Vibert track or something.

I listened to #Shredfest today, and I’m not sure if it’s the best album of the last 10 years or merely the second best Harshest Realm album of the last ten years.

Been listening to the Misfits for the last couple hours. It is a very good thing to do. The Legacy of Brutality compilation just ended and I'm now hearing Project 1950 for the first time. This is the third cover of "This Magic Moment" I've heard today, which means today was a good fucking day.

Right!?! Like, maybe the best band I’ve never developed an unhealthy obsession of. Will listen to their classic stuff once in a few blue moons and never fail to be blown away. But then I sorta just forget them.
Anyway, yeah. Gonna listen to that first full length again

I spent yesterday listening to the first 4 Swans albums. That stuff is so bleak and depressing. It was fun!

This is one of my favorite songs ever. I feel like people forget about Erykah sometimes. She's so incredible. I am really annoyed by all of the praise that Beyonce's sisters albums have gotten in these end-of-decade lists. I've tried to listen to those albums so many times and it just sounds like second-rate bullshit when you compare it to the first wave of neo-soul, which was plugged into the emancipatory tradition of African-American thought and the radical Black imaginary. In comparison, the Solange albums are engineered to appeal to white liberal "allies" and their fucked up racialized guilt complexes.

The further away it gets, the more incredible those albums in the early 2000s (D'Angelo, Lauryn Hill, Erykah, The Roots, Jill Scott, etc.) become in my mind. Truly a special moment in American music.

I've thrown on the first Purling Hiss record for the first time since March of 2015, this morning, and Jesus fucking Christ does this shit ever rip. This guy may have had access to Rocket Sauce during the recording of this long-playing record album.

Nick made a post about this somewhere that I can't seem to find, but I am listening to Thee Oh Sees this morning and loving it so much. I was really into them for a couple of years in college but then stopped listening to them completely around the time that I basically lost interest in all guitar music. They fucking kick ass. Although, I don't really like the new album...

I've been continuing my gradual discovery of 60s & 70s Italian music as well. I have never been very good at writing about music,  but I might make an Italian music thread at some point if that is something that some boarders here might be interested in. Otherwise, I'll just keep my thoughts to myself. eh Fammi sapere, ragazzi.
