i really didn't expect to like that song as much as i do. nails the 90s movie credits vibe perfectly.

Foxy Fucking Shazam 2020!
Love both of these new tunes. I am excited one of my all time favorite bands is back. You can tell the Nally honed his chops (I liked his solo stuff) for the past 6 years. And, Nally must have met this drummer on tour with Macklemore because he's a bad motherfucker on the skins. I think this could be their best song ever, IMO:
This is the newest one... I really like. Fucking geniuses, but that's just me. It's an acquired taste...
I'm still holding out hope they take over the world.

Re: 2020 musical recordings
Yesterday I was listening to the new Bill Callahan but it looks like it hasn't actually been released and now it has disappeared off my iTunes. Must have been a temporary mistake by Apple Music. Anyways, it sounds really great. He scratches an itch that has been bothering me ever since Leonard Cohen passed away. Callahan winks him at the end of the first track on the new record as well (he closes it with Cohen's last line on "Famous Blue Raincoat").
It is really comforting to me that in our depraved and horrendous cultural condition, there is still space for people like this to make their beautiful music.

Can’t wait for the new Callahan!
Since the Jason Molina album came out I’ve been treating Neil Young’s Homegrown & Eight Gates as a double album. Maybe it doesn’t make sense but it’s a listening experience I have enjoyed.

Re: 2020 musical recordings
It’s good.
It doesn’t grab me by the balls and the taint part of the balls the way that the more raucous Harshest Realm releases do, but it’s a good listen. Interesting, experimental, sparse-but-good-sounding (lol musical adjectives by a non musician) guitar sound-shapes going on, and if there’s a seat on the bus to heaven where all the rider does is listen to Garret play guitar for eternity, than brother, give me one or maybe two tickets to that ride.

Re: 2020 musical recordings
My daughter and I have been making music since she was 2 and a half. I have a couple collections together on bandcamp. It’d be nice if you guys could download it, and I can show her that some people are listening to her music. No need to pay, lol. Thanks!

Enjoying this a lot. It's the opposite of everything I'm sick of listening to right now.

i've been enjoying the new sam prekop lp quite a bit. it feels incredibly chicago to me and has been triggering very specific memories of certain bikerides and train stops and such.

Re: 2020 musical recordings
Have been totally lost regarding 2020 music. I’m really back into listening to music more passionately After losing interest outside of chill out (Drone, ambient, new age) music for a couple of years. I’m mostly listening to Motown, 70s classic rock, cheesy songwriters (Gordon Lightfoot stuff and outlaw country) and funk and soul. Also rock and roll roots music. Big on that lately.
I think this year I won’t be able to even make a top five 2020 list.
I am checking out Spotify new releases and listening to the new William Tyler record, which seems decent
Oddly enough, the new Dirty Projectors EP is nice and chill. Couldn’t stand them at pitchfork back in the day.
Just tried to listen to the new flaming lips and couldn’t get past the first song. Yuck.

I ran an errand on Friday and heard a Yoshimi song on SiriusXM. A tiny part of me considered revisiting that album and give the new one a listen but that passed fairly quick.

Well, now I’ve listened to a new Flaming Lips album and have to say I enjoy it more than I expected and certainly more than the new Doves.
