I started way back at the beginning. Older (1950s-1990s) entertainment/comedy/showbiz is the main area of interest.  The Dick Cavett and Paul Schaffer episodes were extremely funny and interesting.
So far, I think Jerry Lewis and Groucho have both been discussed in every episode.

    NP: Robert Osborne. RPI.

I like this show. Would especially recommend everyone check out the Bob Saget episode (I think he's only been on once), available on both Spotify and YouTube. I'm not an easy laugher but it had me audibly lolling p much nonstop from start to finish

The Dead Eyes podcast -- in which a comedian/actor tries to figure out why Tom Hanks fired him from a small role in the 2001 HBO mini-series Band Of Brothers -- is riveting.

That was a solid ep of Reply All. Greatest podcast ep ever? Get the fuck outta here.

Not that he'll read this, but great rec on Dead Eyes, Raj. So so fun and a real nice break from the Chapo/Citations/Wine History podcasts I've had on repeat ad infinitum.

Reply All is hosted by PJ Vogt and Alex Goldman, who launched the show in 2014. Our show is downloaded around 5 million times per month.

How do you even "download" an episode of this at all? Everything on the site is steering me to streaming it on Spotify (I don't currently have this) or Apple Music (no thanks).

I am very new to this.

Glad you liked it too. I love when a non-fiction story feels as engaging as fiction. Hopefully Tom Hanks makes a full recovery so the podcast can continue without a cloud over it... Covid can't ruin literally everything in the world.

An hour and a half interview with Kevin Rutmanis:
    http://www.radionope.com/podcasts/protonicreversal/?name=2020-01-31_145_ep144__kevin_rutmanis_hepa_titus__the_cows__melvins__tomahawk.mp3

This guy talks to a lot of good people from "this" kind of music.  And despite the interviewer being a bit too much of a fanboy, the shows are always pretty good.  Bob Bert a few months back was great. Albini, Buzz Osborne and Mike Watt have all been on recently, and while it's not hard to find interviews with those particular guys, they're always fun to listen to.  He's apparently doing Duane Denison and the guy from McClusky tonight.

    EDIT:
It might be possible to listen live (McClusky guy is on now) here:

I’m not sure why, but it took me until last week to check out Double Threat, the new podcast from Tom Scharpling and Julie Klausner. I’m glad I finally checked it because it’s funny as hell. In this one episode they were doing fakes promos and Julie sings, ’mr Jones and me, you are now tuned in to the Alex Jones network.’ Highly recommended.

The only things I'm still on a must listen basis with are the SST Records completist show 'You Don't Know Mojack' and the Best Show.

I still more or less keep tabs on these and listen if I feel like it / they have a good guest or topic:
    Majority Report
    Ben Joravsky
    Turned Out a Punk
    Gilbert Gottfried
    Conan Neutron's Protonic Reversal
    Kreative Kontrol

6-12 months behind on these long-time favorites, and kinda trying to catch up:
    11 O'Clock Comics
Rock and Roll Geek Show / Mad at Dad
    Don't Die

What does Ben Joravsky's podcast mostly focus on? Does he cover a lot of aldermanic-level Chicago politics like he does for his pieces in the Reader?

Mike Watt's show is good. 3 hours of music and conversation, several times per week. Impossible for me to keep up with so I pick and choose. His guest yesterday was Tom Smith from To Live and Shave in L.A.

This story (about a tour in 2010) is even funnier if you read the interviews that tUnE-yArDs was giving two years ago.

Is tUnE-yArDs the most reviled band on this board? I don't think any of us here would be inclined to take her at her word, and it's probably easy to justify why. But you have to believe that people can sincerely change, right? Even extremely online public figures who've made careers out of chasing trends? Just thinking out loud here.

Trying to listen to more episodes of this in the car but I often have to turn the volume up really high to hear it clearly and that doesn't work out well when it's followed by laughing or shouting. Maybe this is a pretty normal problem when it comes to podcasts, idk

Season 1 was solid. It's run out of steam thus far in Season 2 trying to drag it out, but the popularity made that inevitable.

Anways, Dead Eyes helped get me into the George Lucas Talk Show, which has been my favorite bit of content in the past year: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH1XwfxXB--rl_Nqxvun8zQ

I think this is accurate -- the Judd Apatow episode and the clip show felt like they were drifting from what made the series interesting.

But... the child actor episode and the season two finale did kind of pull me back into it.

I do think he needs to navigate to an ending quickly from here, whether he gets Hanks or not. He's now talked to enough people in Hanks' orbit that if it doesn't happen soon, it's just not gonna happen.

Seems like Season 3 will be the last. I think he won't get Hanks, but we'll see.

Agree that he resorted to booking "big guests" and got a bit off the rails. I'm a bit behind on podcasts these days since I've been listening to more music.
