vacation plans

When do you leave for Japan, yo?

I've wanted to see Tokyo since a long long time ago, spent 22 hours in Narita, and never made it into the city proper. Chinese soon-to-be fiance has basically ruled out all of Japan for future vacation purposes unless I intend to travel alone.

Basically mad jealous. Enjoy the hell out of that trip.

We're going away in November for a week. But we're not sure where. Ideas? Open to anything that's awesome.

Belgium is high on my list.

Last night at a party people were discussing upcoming vacation plans. A couple mentioned they are taking a long weekend to go hiking. Maybe I don't pay enough attention to the world around me but the idea of walking around with a back pack full of sandwiches seems ridiculous and childish.

I think Damo once referred to riding a bike as the lowest form of transportation. Is hiking the lowest form of the idea of a vacation?

My parents go on walking holidays to the Yorkshire dales. I can't get them to understand that it's not a real holiday.

Currently in nz, doing a bunch of hikes on the south island...it's been awesome so far!

It isn't November yet, so I don't know. It's cheap - uncle owns a beach house there - so that's good enough.

My brother in law is getting married in Playa Del Carmen in 19 days so we're heading down for a week to celebrate.

London certainly makes an effort now. Would say Edinburgh though from my experience.

New year's eve used to be more important than Christmas in Scotland.

I've heard Berlin has good celebrations but I'll probably still be home for Christmas at that point.

I was planning to visit Edinburgh during my trip back home anyway, perhaps I should time it for the first.

I will never forget waiting at the Potsdamer Platz U-Bahn station at like 2:00am and watching a train go screaming past the platform with flames leaping out of its shattered windows. Intense. The rest of that night is something I'd like to forget.

Ha! No "Take My Breath Away," but the Scissor Sisters did play under the Brandenburg Gate, that night!
