What are the girls in Södermalm like?
They're all hipsters. They like Avicii, they like Swedish House Mafia, and they're into apple cider. They're pretty lame. We ain't about those hoes.
Who are some of your favorite rappers?
I love Future. "Turn on the Lights" is the best song ever. You can cry to it. You can relate to it. We hate Macklemore. Free Big Lurch. Big Lurch needs to get out, so does Lil Boosie, and Max B. We like Metro Zu, but mostly Lofty.

Been a big fan since 'Ginseng Strip 2002' dropped. Really excited about this bizarre movement.

Unknown Death 2002 is one of my favorite releases of the year
tracks like "Oceans 2001", "Lightsaber // Saviour" and "Princess Daisy" are phenomenal deep cuts
YouTube natives like the Sad Boys incorporate some very interest stuff from the culture

Re: Yung Lean/Yung Sherman & *SAD BOYS*
i'm not sure they are sophisticated enough to really understand what homophobia is from an American English perspective, but i hear you
i think it's probably more troubling that homophobic language is something they were easily able to appropriate just by listening to American music (though obvious)

Re: Yung Lean/Yung Sherman & *SAD BOYS*
I shouldn't post about things like that while I'm at work. I don't actually believe that they're true homophobes. But I just wish they wouldn't use slurs like that. Is that too much to ask? Is even asking a sign that this music (and all of hip-hop, mainstream and underground, probably) isn't meant for listeners like me?

it's amazing in a particular moment. easy to get wrapped up in the world they're creating and their language.
can't say i've been listening to these tracks every day or anything, but i will revisit the Sad Boys soon.

Re: Yung Lean/Yung Sherman & *SAD BOYS*
This is sorta (mostly) off-topic but I associate Kalle J (one half of Karl X Johan) with mid-oughts Swedish pop that’s a lot closer to the Gothenburg sound than anything hip-hop related. But it seems like the same sort of ostensibly unironic fascination with rap. It starts kinda slow but the middle and end have some good bits, if you don’t mind the heavy debt to Araabmuzik and Clams Casino.
