TV Tropes

Is there any reason this exists? It's full of people obsessively labeling and categorizing plot cliches and geek culture character archetypes. I can't see any actual utility for this exhaustive taxonomy and the pages I read certainly didn't provide any insight on the works referenced. Is this just raw material for masters dissertations of the future on Buffy / Naruto / the autism spectrum?

Idk, I wasn't aware of http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Scotireland and don't feel any worse for knowing this is something that happens in American films and television shows.

I don't have much experience with the site, admittedly.

Man, I only recognise 2 of those songs by title. 3 if 'Waterfalls' is 'don't go chasing waterfalls' as I suspect. I'm not sure if my ignorance is cultural or generational.
