one of the great indie-rock albums of it's era. i think my recent focus on old favorites reflects my search for the familiar in a transitional period in my life.

I feel like a jerk, now, but that's my least-favorite song on that particular record album. lol Sorry, B! I quite like Strange Geometry, but I think it's a bit spotty; and I do enjoy "Bookshop Casanova," if less than the other tracks.

Re: Now Playing
I remember going to see them on or right around the day that Alex Chilton died. They played "Nighttime," I believe it was. It was sweet.

i just remember Casanova being groovy and ska-y, not the best song on the album. slag it all you want! i like a lot of their stuff, especially some of the big songs from their first two records (which i don't even remember the names of), but i don't really have a strong affection for any of it but Strange Geometry. for whatever reason it was an album that stuck with me because that was right when i was getting into music and Franz Ferdinand and Pitchforkmedia.com

I remember the day the Pitchfork review of Strange Geometry dropped. I read it in a college computer lab and was like, "Wow. They finally made it. ."

Re: Now Playing
If you order vinyl in the mail and it sits on your doorstep for a couple of hours in the winter (midwestern USA winter), is there any risk of it getting damaged (warped, cracked, etc)?
Because I really wanted to pre-order that but never did for said reason.

Re: Now Playing
shouldn't be any damage from the cold but you need to get them gradually back up to room temperature i.e. don't take them out of the sleeve/packaging for a couple of days after bringing them in.
just poke around in the discogs of UR, Drexciya and associated acts. Donald and Stinson (RIP) both have/had loads of cool side projects. A few of my faves: Elecktroids, The Other People Place, Transllusion, NRSB-11, Dopplereffekt, Japanese Telecom.
Also worth branching out into Sherard Ingram aka Dj Stingray. Definitely do a deep dive on his Urban Tribe project if you haven't before. It involves Carl Craig, Anthony Shakir and Kenny Dixon, Jr. Need I say more.

Now playing:
Up next:
Psyche \ BFC – Elements 1989-1990
This and The Legendary Adventures Of A Filter King are the two CC releases I listen to most often these days. So good.

this is much glitchier and abrasive, but enjoyable. i think my room needs more stainless steel if i'm going to keep listening.
EDIT: the middle actually gets p damn smooth. "Japanese Electronics" is some great shit.

I found my old iPhone that has non-streaming music on it and have been revisiting a few albums I haven't heard in a while incl. stuff from Joanna Newsom, Boredoms, Nisennenmondai, OOIOO, and Boris.

there's a lot of background buzz on this as a old, live recording, but this performance is brilliant:

There's practically nothing from this album on Youtube or anywhere else except for this track, but take my word for it this thing is just great.
