Re: Collective Soul
Let's mingle
And make it well.
Come together now.
Yeah let's gel.
Well let's bungle
And live to tell
How we came together.
Yeah how we gelled.
I never knew what this lyric actually was until now.

Jaysis, reading these lyrics just strikes at my core but I can't actually quite remember the melody, and I'm kinda scared what will be unleashed if I do.

Re: Collective Soul
Can anyone else can help me make a masterlist of videos where people are doing this kicking the camera move?
I feel like there's going to be a lot of STP and Jane's Addiction on it.

This is what happens when you hang out with a 57 year old man who calls himself 'The Edge'.

Somehow this is literally just the first five posts of the Now Playing thread:

undo wrote:It's like listening to Creed with cotton in your ears, the production is so weird, or maybe it was totally typical of 90s post-grunge. I don't know how to talk about it but whatever it is, Bush is on the totally opposite spectrum of whatever's happening here, I kind of want to put this album and Sixteen Stone into Audacity and see what the waveforms look like next to each other.
After this album their covers were still terrible but in a different way, it all looks like Christian album art from 1999-2003, which they probably could have passed for if there wasn't a thriving Christian rock industry at the time. Lots of stuff on here is almost indistinguishable from like megachurch worship music.
Apparantly there was an alternate cover for this but I've never seen it until now.

If there was a 33 1/3 book for this album I would absolutely buy it.

You have good ears, because:wikipedia wrote:Hints Allegations and Things Left Unsaid was recorded in a basement in 1992 as a promotional demo. Frontman Ed Roland hoped to simply sell the songs to a publishing company rather than form a band. [...] Atlantic Records wished to release the demo as the debut studio album of Collective Soul. In a 1995 interview, Roland elaborated on his mixed feelings regarding the situation:
"It wasn't even remixed. It was the same demo. Before we got signed we'd already charted with 'Shine.' Once we got signed I said, 'We want to re-record. This is not a band recording.' But they said, 'You're gonna lose momentum. You're looking at a three to five month process. So let's go with it and you can get your next record out quick.' "

Holy shit I just started playing their second album with the blue album cover. Nothing has ever sounded so my youth in the 90s as the first minute of this song. It is fucking incredible.

Re: Collective Soul
The guitar riff is complete butt rock perfection, and I would pay money to hear paves play it live at some shithole bar in Chicago.

If I can't find my cd of that second album, I'm at least gonna load all the songs into my iphone so I can play it with Zappo.

Re: Collective Soul
Collective Soul could very easily have been one of the bands in Airheads that Fraser, Buscemi and Sandler were competing with for air time. Nondescript 90s bands jamming out repetitive 90s riffs repetitively while spewing deep “love is what love should be” lyrics. Which is amazingly entertaining for a listen or two. However...
Yeah, we shouldn’t do this. The downside to listening to that album a couple times is that it’s actually bad and now the songs are stuck in my head and I can’t get them out.
Would still be a pretty sick time though.
