For me, it's coming across a random Billboard article today written by Andrew Unterberger that reminded me this community exists and that I should stop by and see how ya'll are doing.

So thank you Andrew Unterberger wherever you may be these days.

If I'm being honest, I don't know that I'd care enough to follow him. Coming across him randomly was pretty amazing and awesome.

The ratio of Sixers basketball talk to Grammy grousing is just to high for a constant follow but I agree it's great to stumble upon the legend in the wild.

Thankful to have this board as an outlet to vent, read about cool shit that cool people are interested in and I hope you all have a terrific Thanksgiving.

I’m very thankful to the dude from whom I purchased a copy of Accelerator on the internet. As a bonus and to say thanks, he included this record:

I'm not good at saying these kind of things but you're all the best and I will probably think about you long after this board is dead and gone.

I had a thought about this board the other day. That we'll all continue posting for the next 30-50 years under these half pseudonyms, slowly revealing more and more about ourselves as we age, one day realizing that we're the most authentic and thick community we have. It was kinda comforting. I don't really know you guys, but I've gotten to know you guys, and I'd like to think that in some small way I love you and you love me. In 2006 I found SOMB by searching for a free, illegal download of The Hold Steady's BOYS AND GIRLS IN AMERICA and, fuck, have we come a long way. Have I, at least. But there's some kernel of that initial thrilling discovery that I feel when I log in and see new posts from you guys. I'm not a consistent poster here, but I'm always checking in and always pretty happy - content, comforted - to read your thoughts on music, politics, and domestic life.

I love all of these thoughts. I've definitely drifted away more frequently and will likely do so again in another month or so but knowing this place is still here makes me really happy.

My journey through these various boards is incredibly fraught and embarrassing because I was extremely young and over-eager when I first started posting on SOMB. I honestly have a really strange relationship with this board. I have, unfortunately, become alienated from all of my high school friends and acquaintances. I have a lot of friends in real life actually but none of them have been able to witness me develop as a human being over the years. The boarders on this forum are the only people in the entire world, other than my immediate family, to have some insight into how I have grown and developed intellectually and emotionally over the last ten years. I think that is pretty strange but it also speaks to how weirdly important this community of people has been to my life.

I am thankful for Coolrock. RIP buddy, I wish you could have played more gigs with your daughter and thanks for your eloquent narratives illustrating life in the 70s better than anyone else I have read.

And Lil' Jess. May your dildo's be clean in your dishwasher and may your flowers grow large in your cool little backyard.

Two posters I still think about pretty regularly after all this time.
