I dig that he is focusing his attention on other shit to be honest. But it would be great to hear what he has been spinning this year. I usually end up going through his list every year and find at least a dozen solid long players that bring a certain amount of joy to my life.

Pretty sure that both Paves and I haven't really been listening to too many 2013 recordings in 2013. Lots of jazz, though!

Yeah. I've been noticing an influx of jazz records on his last.fm account and I am sure that is only the tip of the iceberg of what y'all been spinning.

Jesus Christ he is in a jazz phase again? When he gets back to celebrating the riffs and moves on from the single most boring genre in history tell him to start boarding.

Last I heard, Undo, Paves was elbow-deep in his debut long-player record-album and working on a structuralist film shot on whatever format is spat out by an iPhone. I know from personal experience that he still enjoys the occasional slice of pie, as well.

Well I hope he's staying busy and enjoying life, but I think everyone's expecting him to come back here with a bunch of serious projects completed, justifying his time away from here, and I don't know if it's going to turn out that way or not.

Re: JDFF
I think there is a 50/50 shot that paves ends up getting a story in the New York Times about what amazing art he is contributing or he ends up back in Oak Park having realized his dream will never come true and that he is doomed to being an English teacher at Fenwick High School.

Also, consider the Hiroshima sized fuck you paves delivers to Members-Only Ninja Turtles Fan Forum when he appears in The Pitchfork Review having authored a feature on Mac DeMarco.

I somewhat recently floated to him the idea of our co-writing a shitty 33 1/3 book. No dice.

nothing could be more boring than the "celebrating riffs" genreNick wrote:Jesus Christ he is in a jazz phase again? When he gets back to celebrating the riffs and moves on from the single most boring genre in history tell him to start boarding.
i think all that wp64 was getting at here is he's found some offline things that are fulfilling for him, not that he's some kind of manic dynamo churning out elite cassette tapes.undo wrote:Well I hope he's staying busy and enjoying life, but I think everyone's expecting him to come back here with a bunch of serious projects completed, justifying his time away from here, and I don't know if it's going to turn out that way or not.
i know you were kidding with the whole "justifying" thing, but i just caution against the obsession with doing things that are results-oriented. all experiences have a "result" on your life, even if you don't create something from it. i struggle with this line of thinking too.
i hope the young man is doing whatever the hell he wants

Oh wow, look at the place. Threads last bumped in early May on the first page. I never would've guessed YSBG would be more active than the once-mighty JDFF.

It's strange how I remember the name theremin, yet find him to be interchangeable with like fifteen other posters who were probably no worse than the average SOMBie, but they had the highest post counts.

Kot tweeted that LMNOP is still doing his Squirt Boy routine, at Lolla.
There is something inherently wrong with a grown man wanting to be called Squirt Boy.

That whole routine was beyond cringeworthy eight years ago, or whenever he started it. I can only imagine how it comes off now. What is he, 45? Back when he started it, I recall him hoping to develop the character into something that would get him free festival admission. Greg Kot tweet, halfway there!
