summertime & the water Empty summertime & the water

Post by ClosetOfExhaustion Thu Aug 08, 2013 3:01 pm

is going to the pool/beach something that EVER crosses your mind during the hottest days?

i'm pretty sure that standing in the water at the beach is only something i actively want to do after finishing a long run on the lakefront, and it is immediately available to cool off in.  otherwise "going to the beach" is pretty much never on my list of things I might do today.

I've lived a block from a pool / waterpark for nine years. Never even considered going there.

Mostly like swimming at beaches that are otherwise empty. Went camping last weekend and swam in the lake without any other groups of people nearby.

Best is swimming at a deserted beach after dark following a really hot day. Generally prefer swimming before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m.

Really hope I make it big enough some day to own my very own pool, and also big enough to pay other people to give a fuck about whatever it takes to maintain a pool. Pool swimming would really hit the spot right now.

I often think, "Swimming would be nice right now" but spontaneous action really isn't my thing.

I don't much care for beaches. Especially those in Chicago which are typically populated by groups of thugs, overweight minorities & family reunions.

Love the beach. Public pools, on the other hand, are the devil.

I have a pool in my back yard, but I only get in it like once a month because it's always full of kids.

it's not super hot or humid out here, so there are rarely those days where you say "i have to get to some water now".

i definitely loved the beach as a kid. and swimming in lakes. the main deterrent for me now is that the Pacific Ocean water is cold as fuck and i'm not an exuberant kid who likes getting in freezing water anymore.

When I was growing up in Texas we would swim daily from May until October. These days, it's a two-three times a month sorta thing.

Spent some time yesterday at the neighborhood pool. Lots of moms in one-piece bathing suits which I thought people stopped wearing in the 1930s.

Lots of older dudes with too much body hair. A few even wore t-shirts into the water.

All of them looked at me with disdain but I could just be paranoid.

Not sure what you mean here. One of the best things about getting older is how much body hair i now have.
