Comets on Fire were a great fucking band.

I fondly recall Paves once describing some recording's style and audio fidelity as sounding "like a bunch of dudes decided they wanted to sound like Comets on Fire, only shittier." Really stuck with me, though the band or album in question now escapes me.

Good band, though, yeah. I still throw on Blue Cathedral to make my ears bleed, every couple of years.

If anyone has anything to say about this, now's the time

Pretty much. Think I brought this up in a mocking way on Facebook a few years ago, the way someone refrences Days of the New.

Who is the audience for this?

Is this, like, really popular right now?

I've definitely formed an opinion of this artist without knowingly having listened to any of his music and maybe I shouldn't have done that?

That's not me saying this stuff is the shit or anything, I'm just really confused right now.

I think XXXtentacion (not even gonna check the spelling) was pretty mediocre. I could kind of tap my fingers to 'Revenge' and that was about it, not a great song. Haven't enjoyed anything else I've heard in the same vein either, not that I can even remember any of their names but I think he was part of wider 'sonic movement' and we haven't seen the last of his style

Huh, thought I'd never heard XXXtentacion but I've definitely heard that somewhere.

Seems adjacent to the emo rap thing that's going big, but yeah, based on the rep I thought he was just some knucklehead like 6ix9ine.

XXXTentacion was murdered, so he won't be coming out with much more music one would expect. I posted this song in another thread because I like it:



I also compared XXX to Juice WRLD in another discussion with Duff. XXX's style will endure for a few years, definitely.

6ix9ine is a whole different (and shitty) vibe compared to this. The emo rap stuff is running in parallel to the repetitive wild boy shit like 6ix9ine and Lil Pump that is also popular.

Pretty much on repeat for the past few days now. Outside of maybe Hank Williams, this has got to be the best music ever recorded.

Do you ever contemplate that the album Goat by The Jesus Lizard might be the best thing ever?

I was listening to it the other day walking home from work and couldn't believe it. It had been like four years since I'd listened to that album or anything from The Jesus Lizard's catalog.

That's a good album.

I made it halfway through a Jason Isbell album today. Don’t think I’ll ever revisit that!

Listening to this CD for the first time in at least ten years.



Stop me if I'm going too far here but I feel like this kind of music has been nothing short of erased from our culture.

Ween- "Buckingham Green"

This song has to be one of the greatest things they’ve ever done. It so perfectly nails mid-seventies portentous Hobbit prog.  It’s like Guided by Voices covering side 2 of Heart’s “Dog and Butterfly” LP.  

People who champion "Chocolate and Cheese" as Ween's finest moment clearly haven't spent enough quality time with "The Mollusk," IMHO.

This has become one of my favorite albums over the last year. He was murdered exactly forty-five years ago defending Allende's government from the violent CIA-backed coup.

Why was Kleenex forced to change their name to Liliput but this guy got a free pass?

That is so strange, I looked up KGW last night on a whim. Apparently still making albums in some form, with a release this year??

KGW was from my home town and kind of a big deal in the local music scene in the late '90s. No one predicted then that the humble Plain White Ts would be the biggest commercial success from that regional cohort.
