I've been enjoying this kid. His lyrics aren't great but the arrangements are pretty refreshing, like a more upbeat King Krule.

such a phenomenal song.

i'm not a big REM fan, but there are parts of Murmur that really get me. everything else of theirs doesn't compare.

Definitely one of those "verses are way better than the chorus" sort of affairs.

i love this style of song. "Walking on the Moon" by The Police. Twin Peaks theme song. is there a better way to describe this interplay between guitar, bass and piano?

the more i listen to "Pilgrimage" the more i get into the chorus, even though i kinda wish it was all verses.

Those two songs were released only a few months apart. They sound remarkably similar to me. Not sure what influences they were channeling but I think they both liked Wire and the Byrds a lot.

New Year's Day by U2 kinda does something similar as well. I think part of the early 80s post-punk and college rock era was a lot of bass lines that mimicked a lead guitar. It's kind of a post-punk trope generally and one that I really like.

All the songs we're naming aren't that similar I think, just have some matching aesthetics.
