I was in the shower just now and I sang the opening two lines of Hot Chip's Down with Prince to the tune of the opening two lines of Prince's 1999. sounded really good.

Listened to that Boards of Canada album today. Got bored halfway through though and ended up microwaving the leftover bacon & onion pizza I have in my fridge while listening to Danny Brown.

Whatever, I don't really know anymore.

Everything I've read about that album boils down to "sounds like Boards of Canada." I already don't listen to their classic records anymore, probably don't need more.

I was at my mate Jim's house earlier and he has the habit of singing popular songs to his dog Sheppy but substituting Sheppy's name in to make them relevant to Sheppy. the effect is comical on the whole but he did this one just before I left and i was kind of disturbed thinking about it on the short walk home:

You and me Sheppy ain't nothing but mammals
So let's do it like they do on the Discovery channel

Kate Bush: The Red Shoes

Currently bopping my head to the Ricardo Villalobos album from last year and writing a paper on negative theology.

Paper 1 of 3 done for the night. Now I have to write a paper on Hildegard von Bingen's Book of Divine Works while listening to her choral masterpieces. Should be fun.

I wonder what our young people could accomplish if they weren't sentenced to paper jail by like every professor on earth. I know they teach you to write or whatever, but man, fuck papers. My least favorite part of college by a wide margin.

It isn't too bad actually it just comes in massive bursts, typically twice a quarter (midterm and then finals). The bursts, which I am in the midst of one right now, are definitely some of the most mentally taxing shit ever though. But I am a philosophy major so paper writing kind of comes with the territory. The release that comes from finishing a paper is pretty awesome though. I only have about 3 or 4 papers that I am actually proud of this year, but that's still something.

My roommate, who takes all the bullshit requirements and lower-division stuff, has written a total of like 5 pages all quarter. It just depends on how seriously you are taking the idea of 'academia'. I think for most people college is just a means to an end whereas I see college as a means and hopefully an eventual end of some sort too.

I think I am going to write my final paper on Future's Pluto. It's a paper for my religion/worldviews class so I am going to talk about how Future transgresses language the corporeal state of humans. No longer can I remain earth bound, god fucking damn it.

I am going to just compare the intro to Pluto to John Cage and then to Neil Young's On the Beach and call it a fucking night and a half.

Balls deep in my final papers while listening to this.

Been listening to Destroyer's catalog the past few days.

Hard to go wrong there. I could definitely stand to hear some Kaputt or Your Blues today. Rubies might be a little intense for this pleasant weather.

I played Rubies this morning. Standing in the sun on the Metra platform and walking to work it sounded perfect.

I guess you're right, there no such thing as non-Bejar weather.

"Bay of Pigs" sounded transcendent on the drive home tonight, heading up York Rd next to O'hare, windows down.

I've also been listening to Destroyer a lot recently. A lot of D'Angelo, Erykah Badu, and Sly & The Family Stone as well.

It's been good. Real good.
