I think the younger players rely on Lebron and AD too much. Mix that with the attention that playing in LA with Lebron brings and I’m sure a lot of guys shrink from the spotlight.

Re: this is a basketball thread
Last night's win sort of invalidates my comment but it absolutely validates yours considering they did it without either of those players.

What a mistake it was for the bulls to pay him. We should have rebuilt around Coby like 2 years ago instead of paying Zach. Ugh.

I made that post about rebuilding around coby before he dropped 33, basically in the second half and OT, to win it against one of the best in the west.

Re: this is a basketball thread
I came close to going to this, but of course that would have altered the entire outcome of the game so maybe it's good that I didn't.
Last night I had a very vivid dream where the Bulls traded a future first round pick (whatever the next one is that they still have, 2025 or 2026 or something) to the Celtics for Al Horford.

We had this guy signed for pennies and released him for nothing.
Only seems right that this happened on the same night the Bulls went 2 for 29 on threes.

Re: this is a basketball thread
This always struck me as a weird title for a basketball game. Like having a tennis game called "Double Fault" or a hockey game called "Icing" or something. It's also impossible to perform a double dribble in the game.
My pet theory that it was chosen to capitalize on the success of Double Dragon fell apart when I learned that Double Dribble came out a whole year before the debut of that series.

Let it also be known that I always wanted the Bulls to keep Daniel Gafford.

Greg Kot wrote a basketball book

Greg Kot has been the Chicago Tribune's pop and rock music critic since 1990. His work has been honored by the American Association of Sunday and Feature Editors, the Society of Professional Journalists, and Brill's Content magazine. Chicago magazine selected him as the city's finest critic in any discipline. Along with being a regular contributor to Rolling Stone and other national periodicals, he is the music analyst for Fox TV morning newscasts. Kot’s books include Wilco: Learning How to Die (Broadway Books, 2004), Ripped: How the Wired Generation Revolutionized Music (Scribner, 2010), and I'll Take You There: Mavis Staples, the Staple Singers, and the Music That Shaped the Civil Rights Era (Scribner, 2014).
In his spare time, Kot is a youth basketball coach and is proud to say that both his daughters survived his coaching and went on to lead happy and productive lives (so far, at least). He and his partners operate Over the Edge, a travel-team program based in Chicago that prepares grade-school athletes to compete at a high school level with an emphasis on the fundamentals.

I am going to pick up a pulled pork sandwich on the way home and watch the Bulls exhaust themselves for the right to play back to back games against the Celtics in Boston.

Billy Donovan just sitting there with a completely blank expression, not even chewing his gum, as Miami goes on a 12-0 run.

This is only the third time in my lifetime that the Sixers and Knicks have faced each other in a playoff series.
Having a rough time wrapping my head around that.

Re: this is a basketball thread
I haven't watched this much "normal" television in years, I've never been so annoyed as I feel right now by what seems like a batch of maybe ten different commercials (at most) being played on a loop during every time out. It feels like all the usual rules of advertising have gone out the window and there's a push to brainwash the viewer through sheer repetition. Yes, I mute the adverts pretty much every time but this approach is still noticeable and I suppose "effective" in getting me to notice them.
Perhaps they're even daring the viewer to complain about them just as I am right now, which is why I'm not naming the companies or products but if you've been watching any of the playoffs then you know the ones I'm bitching about here. Or maybe this is what television is like all the time in 2024? It's really irritating!
